Nature is my canvas.
We live in a world of abstract art, yet so much of it goes unnoticed. The patterns, the chaos, the colours, the imperfections. All of it already exists.
I don't need to invent any of it. I just need to find it.

Aurora Australis, photographed in North West Victoria, at just 34.8° south latitude. A rare sight this far north, where the Southern Lights are usually much harder to see.

An image can be constructed from moments that were real. Another can look entirely real without ever having happened.
So what actually makes an image authentic?
The pixels, or the experience behind them?

"Alignment" is one of my favorite nightscapes from the 2022 planet alignment.
In April of 2022, we had an amazing opportunity to shoot 4 planets in the Southern Hemisphere that aligned in a unique way.
4/30 have been collected so far, big thanks to @intrepid_p @JamesAfineart @Klutch_NFT @jasonophoto for collecting.

Every storm you see is something the world will never see again. The structure, the light, the way it develops and eventually falls apart. No two storms will ever unfold in exactly the same way.
That's what I've always loved about storm photography. The ability to freeze a fleeting moment in nature, knowing that what you're witnessing will never exist in quite the same way again.
A photograph becomes a permanent record of something completely unrepeatable. You can recreate an image. But you can't recreate the storm that made it.

Posting this with the hope that someone just appreciates the art for what it is. Nothing more, nothing less.
The idea for Scorched Earth started with something I couldn’t stop seeing in the landscape close to home.
Once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it.

Bringing back a @copie_eth classic because it fits very well to this last week. Wish I could bring back Elmo that easily too😢
