It's a big day for crypto payments, but a bigger day for #Web3.
And not for the reason you think.
While everyone is talking about the crypto payments piece (and as a crypto payments company @loopcrypto_xyz we love this validation of the space), the most important part of this announcement is the collapse of the “walled garden."
“On Wednesday the company unveiled a long list of other launches, the most significant update being that Stripe, for the very first time, would let customers integrate competing payment providers with Stripe’s other financial services tooling. Thursday’s nod to expanding crypto support is also part of that bigger strategy to open up its walled garden.”
Web3 is about data ownership, which unlocks portability, interoperability, and ultimately a superior customer experience.
Big tech sees this credible threat, and is reacting.
