Ramayana doesn't need a Hollywood budget to conquer the world. It needs a soul. Let me be clear. I have no issue with the scale, VFX or ambition of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. Nor do I want the film to fail. I want it to succeed. But my concern is DHARMA. Namita Malhotra is a businessman investing in a massive commercial venture. That's perfectly legitimate. But when you want to turn Ramayana into theme parks, T-shirts, toys and merchandise, are you celebrating Dharma or monetising it? There is a difference. Remember Hanuman Ansh? No superstar brigade. No astronomical budget. No Hollywood names. Yet it struck a chord because the makers put their heart and soul into it. I wrote a review of it that went viral, and the response proved that audiences connect with sincerity. Now, Vivek Oberoi, SS Rajamouli and other prominent personalities are urging people to watch Ramayana. But here's the uncomfortable question: Can celebrity endorsements manufacture an emotional connection that the film itself must earn? Music is the soul of Indian cinema. Look at Hanuman Ansh or Dhurandhar. Music elevated the cinematic experience. Hans Zimmer and Allah Rakha Rahman have immense talent. But I wonder why a project as deeply rooted in Indian civilisation couldn't make greater use of the musical legacy that generations of Indians already associate with Ramayana. Imagine a powerful, contemporary interpretation of Mangal Bhavan Amangal Haari. It could move millions. It could become a global sensation. We Indians have always Indianised everything. Chinese food, pizza, pasta we give them our own identity. Why are we doing the opposite with our own civilisation? The world doesn't need a Westernised Ramayana. It wants to experience India. A Westerner doesn't come looking for an Indian version of Hollywood. They come looking for something they cannot experience anywhere else. And that is where I believe the makers have missed an extraordinary opportunity. Ramayana is not just an epic fantasy about a battle between two powerful men. It is a story of Dharma versus Adharma, Maryada versus Ego, sacrifice versus desire. Ravana was undoubtedly a powerful and complex character. But his power must never overshadow the moral purpose of the Ramayana. We saw something similar with Padmaavat, where Khilji's character became such a cinematic spectacle that the villain often overshadowed the very story. Giving Ravana grandeur is one thing. Glorifying or sanitising his Adharma is quite another. You can make Ravana look magnificent. But never at the cost of making Rama's Dharma look ordinary. I am sure Ramayana will attract audiences and may recover its enormous investment. I genuinely hope it does. But box-office numbers and cultural impact are two different things. Dhurandhar and Hanuman Ansh connected because audiences felt something. Ramayana has the potential to become a global cultural phenomenon, not merely a blockbuster. My only expectation is this: Don't just make Ramayana 2 grand. Make it sacred in its intent. Because Ramayana doesn't belong to a producer, a studio or a generation. It belongs to civilisation. And civilisation cannot be recreated through VFX alone. #RamayanaMovie #Ramayana #Yash #Ranbirkapor

A proud moment for India's cultural and literary heritage! ✨ The Rājataraṅgiṇī of Kalhaṇa (a 12th-century chronicle of Kashmir), the Mahābhārata (a perennial epic of South Asia) and the Arthaśāstra of Kauṭilya (a text on governance and statecraft) have been inscribed on the prestigious @UNESCO’s Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific (MOWCAP) Regional Register. This recognition celebrates India's rich legacy of historical documentation, literary excellence, philosophical knowledge traditions that continue to inspire generations across the world. #CultureUnitesAll

Watch the Hindi Version. Which is the best IMAX in Mumbai to watch?
#Ramayana is more than just a movie, it is an experience! 🏹 The Hindi version reportedly offers 30 extra minutes of music and emotion. The contrast between Ram calmness and Ravana chaos makes it even more fascinating. Indian cinema deserves spectacles like this! 👑

Do you feel India should depend on other countries for processing the critical minerals that power our future?
I certainly don’t! Lithium, nickel, cobalt…these are essential for EVs, batteries, electronics and defence. Yet, we remain heavily dependent on imports of refined materials. To address this, the Cabinet has approved a scheme to change this. Key highlights: New critical mineral processing plants. Capital subsidy to boost investment. Greater domestic value addition. Stronger supply chains. The principle is clear...India must have capabilities to build technologies of the future! pib.gov.in/PressReleaseDetai…

They are called itihasa in tradition, meaning "thus it happened." Scholars view both as epics with possible historical cores from the late Vedic period (roughly 1000-500 BCE). Place names, pottery at sites like Hastinapur and Ayodhya, and structures near Dwarka show correlations, but the full narratives with divine acts lack conclusive archaeological proof. They blend memory, legend, and philosophy.

#WATCH | Pune: On action in view of the festive season, Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Tukaram Munde says, "I have issued standard operating orders for the festive season, covering all festivals including Diwali. We started taking action 21 days ago. This will be further intensified across retailers, wholesalers, dealers, and semi-dealers. Nobody should violate any regulations or rules, and there will be no compromise in taking action against defaulting food business operators who try to sell, produce, or store any substandard, unsafe, or misbranded food products."

I went to France 24 home page expecting to read up on the riots last night and see the police and Macron's response. Instead, I kid you not, the lead story (yes lead) is:- "Indian opposition parties stage mega rally seeking election chief’s resignation." Why on earth would French people be interested in this? The next story is "How far will 'Cockroach' movement go? India's youth-led protests defy Modi government" and "India bans march on parliament by ‘Cockroach’ activists, risking a standoff". Can't see anything on the riots in France on its home page. Absolutely bizarre.

This issue should not have arose in the first place. This has hurt a lot!
The RSS has made its position clear that the UGC circular was unbalanced. This concern was brought to the attention of the concerned authorities, and both the government and the UGC took note of it. The Supreme Court has also put the regulations on hold, and the matter is currently sub judice. We believe that any decision taken going forward must be fair, balanced and inclusive. The government must ensure that the concerns of all stakeholders are duly considered, and the same position should be consistently pursued before the court.
