its so crazy how ao3 being down for like 3 weeks could have led to people boosting writers' other socials and connecting with them elsewhere and asking them to crosspost themselves/creating webrings but that would require readerbases having maturity levels above a third grader
You can say whatever you want about the current situation related to Ao3 being down, but some of you are showing your true colors and exposing the kind of awful people you are. Mocking and harassing authors because they dared to kindly ask for their works to not be in the drives.

writers: we would like to be in community as fan creators and get to be treated as part of that fan community when we share things with you, so please engage with us ☺️
dickheads like this: wanting to be part of a community is petit bourgeois. fuck you serfs, make things for me.
It's kinda funny that everyone usually agrees that reposting/redistributing fics is a HUGE no-no when Ao3 is up and running, but now that the site is down that kind of common sense has been thrown out the window

Replying to @wajjs_
They have zero consideration for someone that spend their VALUABLE TIME to write something good for them. Why they try to make authors think wanting engagement is too much?! It's really true that people don't appreciate something you gave them for free.

many authors are more than willing to send people individual pdfs (i know i am!). we just want to be respected for the work we put in like any other creator. you do this by respecting the wishes of the author of the work you covet.

and people pretending like authors can’t request to have their work taken down are ridiculous. a dmca takendown can be initiated if you refuse to remove an authors work if they do not want it there. learn the copyright laws some of you are trying to wrongly hide behind.

what people can’t seem to grasp is authors publish on a03 because of the many protections a03 offers. we agree to those terms of service. other sites used for redistribution do not offer the same protections, especially not google drive.

terminally consumer-brained, demanding an endless scroll of bedtime stories and throwing the world's biggest fit if you dare to suggest that the people who do the labor and write the fics might actually want to be part of the community they put so much time & effort into building
