A historic moment for American energy: 140,000+ home batteries | 580 megawatts
As California baked under extreme heat and energy demand surged on September 9, Sunrun and @teslaenergy dispatched more than 140,000 home batteries, delivering 580 MW of peak power to the state's grid in the largest residential distributed power plant event ever recorded in the United States.
The dispatch event provided enough capacity to power every household in Sacramento County during peak hours. The extra power helped increase the grid's operating margin and put downward pressure on real-time energy prices for everyone in the state.
Through grid service programs like DSGS and ELRP, home storage and solar are doing more than providing backup power and energy security to families. They’re helping make the grid more affordable and reliable while reducing the need for costly new poles, wires, and peaker plants.
Everyday homeowners are keeping California's grid stable and making history in the process, all while being compensated for it. That’s the energy future we’re building in America.

Energy costs are through the roof and we need to bring them down. The Governor just signed three of my bills to do just that and to move toward clean energy:
1. Allowing people, including renters, to use plug-in solar to generate clean energy and lower their electric bills (SB 868)
2. Dramatically simplifying and expediting permits for heat pumps, which allow people to heat and cool their homes without fossil fuel (SB 222)
3. Allowing people to install energy-efficient windows without cities and HOAs meddling and forcing them to keep drafty windows that jack up heating and cooling costs (SB 908)
Let’s get those bills down and that clean energy up!

Google offered to pay for the data center infrastructure upgrades outright. The utility said no, because that wouldn't go into their rate base. They restructured it as a prepayment instead so they could rate base it anyway.
Result: everyone's bill went up $5.77 a month.
