An officer joins at age 23, and the majority—about 85%—retire at 54, after 31 years of service. What should an officer’s salary be after 31 years of service, given a corps of 20 crore? Keep in mind that salary is the officer’s only source of income; investing in shares or running a side business isn’t an option. The officer has two children and needs to maintain a standard of living befitting their rank.
P.S. As a lieutenant, I sometimes had to borrow money from my parents. I was commissioned in December 2003. Please advise.

What on earth is he talking about?
We are certainly not the kind of people who become dependent on the organisation for every conceivable expense—official vehicles, fuel, rations, travel, children’s education and coaching, or even maintaining a social life commensurate with an officer’s standing.
The reality is that maintaining a dignified lifestyle in an environment that upholds such high standards of living comes at a considerable financial cost. In fact, if an officer has lived up to those standards throughout his service and remained completely honest, it is highly unlikely that he would have accumulated any substantial savings. More often than not, he would retire with financial liabilities, such as an outstanding home loan, rather than a sizeable corpus.
I have no idea who this officer is or what kind of life he has experienced in the Army, but I find it difficult to reconcile his claims with the financial realities of an honest officer's life.
Back in 2004, my salary was actually lower than what my civilian brother was paying his driver in Mumbai.

Before believing anything an Instagrammer who can be bought for a couple of thousand rupees says about the border.
Observe the difference on the ground you can see it for yourself, even on open-source maps.
I have been to places, and the maps don't justify the level of our preparedness.
I have issues with this government regarding national security, but an Instagrammer and a failed opposition who did the bare minimum on this front is someone we should not entertain.
In the pic, an example of the development of a very small post in a region which is under discussion in Arunachal Pradesh.

YOU ARE IN INDIA'S TOP 10% IF YOU EARN ₹80k/MONTH" - SO WHO IS BUYING ALL THE ₹1 CRORE PLOTS EEN IN TIER-3 CITIES?
What a hilarious fantasy:
1️⃣ Official data claims ₹80,000/month makes you "rich" relative to the population.
2️⃣ Meanwhile, a tiny plot in a Tier-3 town costs ₹50–80 Lakhs, completely out of reach for a salaried ₹80k worker who pays high TDS and high GST!
3️⃣ The buyers? A massive untaxed cash economy that pays ₹0 in direct tax, stores wealth in land, and operates under the radar!
The system loves this setup: Squeeze the transparent 2% who can't hide their salary, while ignoring untraceable cash income because hunting tax evaders takes real effort!
As the saying goes: "The taxman shear the sheep that stand still while letting the wild ones run free."

Taxes on FII like LTCG, Lack of AI play and Depreciating Rupee are few of the factors leading to FII exodus form Indian markets. You may get temporary reprieve of reverse AI trade but fact is structurally India does not offer much in IR 4.0 in the listed space. Also global macros are worseninng with conflicts, energy prices, bond yields rising making Indian markets less attractive.
Its a sell on rise market now being managed for JIO IPO, basically retail is providing exit liquidity to FIIs. Realistically speaking global supply chains are breaking down from Fuel to Fertilisers to Food and ultimately Finance as well.
Chinese just barred Solar Module tech sharing exports, Americans wont share Jet engine technology. Make in India is limited success in some sectors mostly in non listed space. So why should any one pay premium for investing in Indian markets when your top listed companies are of a bygone era.
Yes reverse AI trade may give trading opportunities to make a buck but it doesn't change the fact that structural levers are lacking in listed space in India. This rise will be used by Promoters, PE investors to cash out in IPOs, FPOs & OFS.
The global macro risks are too high to compensate for reverse AI trade thesis. Midterms, Iran war reignition, Energy, Inflation, rate hikes, Bond Yields, YCC, AI Bond (Debt of Hyperscalers) spreads blaring alarm bells of bubble pop on Horizon. One should be judicious with money in these times. Save over spend should be the mantra. Lend less and spend less.

🚨 Spot the Synthetic
❌ A digitally altered video of COAS General Dhiraj Seth is being circulated with a fabricated claim that he narrated “Major Rajendra Pratap drank cow urine for 40 days to quench his thirst during the 1965 war” and that modern Army personnel should continue such a practice.
❌ This clip is AI generated and manipulated by @InsiderWB, where the genuine footage of the Army Chief is falsely attributed with fictitious words that are unrelated to the original event.
✅ FACT: COAS General Dhiraj Seth visited the Operation Drishti Mega Eye Surgical Camp at Tangdhar, Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir, where he interacted with patients and Army veterans and reviewed their welfare and healthcare concerns. There was no narration of such story.

- 76 year old retired Colonel Virendra Pratap Singh Chauhan lived in Noida.
- In a local park, the ADM, his wife, and his government gunman allegedly beat up Colonel Chauhan.
- They then filed molestation and SC/ST Act cases against Colonel Chauhan.
- Police arrested the 76 year old Colonel and sent him to Luksar Jail.
- But after the park’s CCTV footage was examined, it reportedly showed Colonel Chauhan sitting quietly while the ADM, his wife, and the gunman were the ones who attacked him.
- The then District Magistrate registered an attempt to murder case against seven people, including the ADM, his wife, and son, suspended the ADM, and Colonel Chauhan was granted bail.
This is why people allege that the SC/ST Act is sometimes misused to settle personal vendettas and ruin innocent people’s lives.

I stand with Professor Doolla.
An allegation cannot become a verdict.
Caste angle can’t be injected to cover up for cheating
Villainising a teacher before the facts are established can permanently damage his reputation even if he is later cleared.
Sahil’s family deserves answers but the professor deserves a fair hearing. Let evidence decide but don’t presume guilt until proven innocent. #IITBombay

The loudest trend on social media today is professionals and investors openly advising General Category youth to leave India immediately and without any guilt.
This is not a failure of patriotism. This is a complete failure of the state.
When a government treats its most meritorious citizens as nothing more than tax generating machines while systematically destroying their educational and professional opportunities, the social contract breaks.
You cannot weaponize draconian laws against top IIT professors, enforce absurd 91 percent reservation quotas in medical colleges, and then expect the youth to quietly absorb the humiliation in the name of nationalism.
Patriotism cannot be a one way street.
You cannot treat an entire community as second class citizens in their own country, use them merely to fund freebies for your vote banks, and then question their loyalty when they decide to take their talent abroad.
A country that punishes hard work and rewards political blackmail will inevitably lose its brightest minds to nations that actually value talent.
Remember, the General Category is not abandoning India.
The political system has aggressively pushed them out.

If we care about our beautiful INDIA, if we don't want brain drain, if we care for merit, let us stand up for Professor Dr Doolla!
2 other students committed suicide in IIT BOMBAY, they were from the GC.
We need to focus on IIT BOMBAY & why so many students committed suicide: not charge Professor Dr Doolla under the SC ST act.
