In 2011, the top rate in Ontario was 46%. Now just shy of 54%.
Property taxes are up, as are one time land transfer taxes. A rising stock market generates outsized capital gains.
Despite all of this revenue, and new programs such as Child Benefit, Dental care, and massive growth in transfers to seniors, what’s been accomplished?
Food bank use has never been higher.
You might wait 12 hours in a GTA emergency ward before being seen.
Crime is up 30% in Toronto vs 2015.
More hate on our streets than we’ve seen in decades.
Billionaires are leaving, and taking their investment capital with them.
Entrepreneurs are taking their ideas and moving to America.
Fed/Prov debt is $350 billion higher than it was just three short years ago.
Maybe, just maybe, outsized deficits, high taxes & growing government handouts aren’t a replacement for an economy that grows faster than society’s consumption of finite, mobile resources.
Too many governments are ignoring what made all of our collective luxuries possible.
In eight of the 10 provinces, the top combined (provincial and federal) personal income tax rate eclipses 50 per cent. fraserinstitute.org/commenta… #cdnpoli

When I'm truly outraged, sometimes strong language slips out. That reflects my outrage. So I'm glad to see @Jason drop the F-bomb here. Calling for anyone's execution because you disagree with them is beyond outrageous. It's downright EVIL. Silence is an endorsement of this evil.
If you sponsor this podcast, calling for the execution of Elon Musk, I will never use your product… and will buy from both of your top two competitors
This is unacceptable and dangerous.
This a dog whistle to murder someone because you disagree with them — and this is the same guy who joked about the assassination against President Trump.
Fuck this piece of shit.

"Just trust us" is a bad police communications strategy when all the public knows is that a suspect in a violent home invasion was questioned by police in hospital, and then sent on his way theglobeandmail.com/opinion/…

💥REPORT: Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw defends his incompetent investigators who interviewed the Bridal Path shooting suspect in his hospital bed — then let him walk, because they had "no evidence" he'd been shot at the scene.
Shouldn't a bullet wound count as evidence?

I'm starting to think that most journalists don't understand how important their jobs are.
We are supposed to hold government to account. When we do so, we properly inform Canadians and force politicians to react and justify their positions. This makes our country better.
When journalists refuse to do this, parties can get away with doing whatever they want.
Unfortunately, I fear too many journalists have confused critiquing Carney with critiquing Canada. They're not the same thing. Carney is not Canada, nor do I expect him to stick around when he's no longer PM.

I used to have so much respect for this guy, but there’s nothing I hate more than a hypocrite.
Imagine making a fortune teaching people to rise above their emotions, question their judgments, and master their egos, only to dismiss anyone who disagrees with you as “literally the worst people.”
What a joke.

That you can show up at a Toronto emergency ward with an inexplicable gunshot wound and not be held by @TorontoPolice speaks to just how ineffective @MayorOliviaChow’s woke crime strategy is:
Smith said officers did not arrest Richards while he was receiving treatment because they had not yet established reasonable grounds linking him to the home invasion.
“We don’t just go off of suspicion,” she said, explaining that investigators had established that connection through forensic work with the Centre for Forensic Science and canvassing in the community.

Karen Swisher makes ten million dollars a year from tech companies advertising on her podcast and has the ears of powerful Democrats
She's using that platform, paid for by the technology industry, to encourage the prosecution of our greatest entrepreneurs and patriots.
Prof. G encouraged their listeners to "resist and unsubscribe" from all of the great technology companies in America, including Uber, Netflix, Salesforce, Amazon Prime, Google, Meta, and Apple!!!
These technology companies are advertising on the podcast that is actively encouraging the demise of tech products and entrepreneurs! 🤦🤦🤦😂😂😂😂

Replying to @JohnLeFevre
From Marcus Aurelius: Ryan, the raised finger reveals more about the soul that lifts it than the sign it targets. Political contests and the judgments of others lie outside your command. Guard the citadel of your mind. Choose justice and temperance over the brief heat of contempt. Externals cannot harm you unless you assent.

“While we are focused on recovery and supporting one another as a family, we are also deeply concerned about the increasing violence associated with home invasions and the safety of families throughout Toronto,” Morton said.“No family should ever have to experience this. People should be able to sleep peacefully in their homes without fear of armed individuals breaking in and threatening their lives.”

It should be illegal for a government to fund a company that should be competing with other companies to see if it succeeds or fails. How is it fair to other companies? What grounds do they base their ability to do this? This is not government's job. Canada isn't Dragon's Den.
You're either a government or an investment firm picking your favourites. You can't have it both ways. And it's our money.

🚨 THIS IS NOT NORMAL. NOT EVEN CLOSE.
A violent home invasion in Toronto’s prestigious Bridle Path. Three family members shot. Two victims left with life altering injuries.
A neighbour breaks down in tears, fearing for her young child.
Another resident says his Lamborghini Urus has been stolen THREE TIMES. He has now hired full time security.
Think about that.
Multi million dollar homes. Security cameras. Alarm systems. Full time security guards. And families are still terrified.
This is starting to sound like something straight out of a Hollywood crime thriller, except the cameras aren't rolling for a movie. This is real life in Canada.
At what point do we recognize how disturbing this has become?
People want safety. People want answers. People want to feel secure in their own homes.
Because if we start accepting this as normal, what kind of society are we becoming?

No Canadian family should ever have to fear for their lives behind their own front door.
My Bill C-293, the Safe at Home Act, would make violent home invasion a distinct criminal offence, with a five-year mandatory minimum sentence, a maximum life sentence, and reverse-onus bail.
Your home should be your safe haven. Violent offenders must be held accountable.
