A reminder for those who forgot that the Ukrainian Maidan was a staged coup xitter.cf/ricwe123/status/211207…
February 2014. Maidan Square, Kyiv. John McCain filming the protests, standing shoulder to shoulder with US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt, while Victoria Nuland stands just behind them. A striking snapshot of Washington’s direct involvement in Ukraine’s political upheaval. The same officials who spoke so confidently about democracy were right there amid the turmoil surrounding the removal of a democratically elected president. This raises an uncomfortable question: was this truly about defending Ukrainian democracy, or about Washington advancing its own geopolitical agenda at Ukraine’s expense?

PS5 JUST GOT AI. PS5LM Plus runs llama.cpp directly on the PS5's GPU, turning a jailbroken PS5 into a local AI machine. • Qwen 3.8 27B at 20+ tok/s • Gemma 4 E4B at 61 tok/s • Llama 3.2 3B at 124 tok/s • GGUF model support • Built-in model library • Download models from Hugging Face • Chat from your phone or PC • OpenAI-compatible API Why is this useful? You can run AI locally on the PS5 and access it from other devices on your network, without sending every request to a cloud AI service. It can even power coding tools like Codex, Claude Code and OpenCode. A PS5 running local AI at these speeds is seriously wild. Would you use your PS5 as a local AI server?

Ledger hacker used zcash and was traced.
Ledger theft, day two. Since yesterday the thief has pushed ether through Tornado Cash three times, and each time on into Zcash's shielded pool. We followed every lot out the far side. Here is how, step by step. 1. THE SAME BUILD, THREE TIMES An ether wallet pays a fresh splitter. The splitter pays four fresh wallets. The four drop it into Tornado Cash's 100, 10 and 1 ETH pools. Minutes, every time. Run 1, yesterday 15:17: 1,254 ETH. Run 2, today 09:42: 1,291 ETH. Run 3, today 11:56: 450 ETH from 0xfa4EaBB840A33C156E600311433AE261CBfCb0e2, in the pools by 12:15. 2. OUT OF TORNADO CASH The mixer breaks the link between a deposit and a withdrawal. We do not need the link. Our tooling fingerprints the withdrawal transactions themselves: how each one is constructed, who constructs it, and when. Yesterday's 65 withdrawals (1,084 ETH) and today's 96 (1,726 ETH) all carry the same signature. The six other withdrawals from those pools in today's windows do not. Run 3 came out from 12:18 into 0x0d697aa182801566d87adc86e68e95fd3b2f5f82 (213 ETH) and 0x676b16cc18542f37d202a1a79ac05463395496a4 (122 ETH), and 195 ETH of it was inside a cross-chain swap service by 12:38. Forty-two minutes, end to end. 3. INTO ZCASH, AND OUT AGAIN The swap service turns the ether into shielded ZEC, where sender, amount and recipient vanish. But the service's own shielding of each lot is public, and from it we derive a value signature for that lot's exit, then scan every transparent exit from the pool. 108 of 108 exits across both days match their lot to the zatoshi. Not one other exit from the pool does. First lot today: in at 10:18:18, out at 11:06:16 in block 3512847 (8d26a9b095d4d28373527f7a6eb81a3be7f906d1e2190960c0512ff64f369418 and 738c6d1261e79766e4dd16bdbd38dced91b8e3a86ce41dcda83eda1f19208fbf), straight into a ZEC to USDC order. Today so far: 20 lots ordered (2,379 ZEC, $2.9m), 14 out, 5 inside the pool, 1 still settling. Every exit feeds a ZEC to USDC order paying two wallets born at 11:11, 22 of the 28 paid by 12:43: 0x816D5Ee17DB1495d1409F135b98FF3edc5F3cDf8: 940,561 USDC 0xBA736A4b616e79867B6d586293966b552883f3F3: 852,258 USDC 1.79m USDC, unspent. @Circle can freeze it. Wow this app is awesome. Everything that is great about Google maps with nothing that is awful about Google maps.
One of the hardest things to replace when 'degoogling' is certainly Google Maps. That said, time to check out the Beta of Vela Maps, a degoogled maps & navigation client for Android that looks very promising! GitHub: github.com/PimpinPumpkin/Vel…

NEW ANALYSIS — In Gaza, Israel’s ongoing destruction during the so-called ceasefire is desecrating the bodies of Palestinians which remain beneath the rubble. Our analysis of videos and satellite imagery finds military practices of demolition, compaction and removal of rubble. These risk making the recovery of Palestinian remains impossible in the 65% of Gaza under Israel’s control.

This is a pretty big deal: a new bill in Congress would let US courts order VPNs and DNS resolvers to block websites. VPNs are explicitly named in a US site-blocking bill for the first time. It’s being sold as an anti-piracy measure but once the legal machinery for blocking websites exists, the obvious question is where it goes from there. And we’ve already seen how badly this can go. Spain’s anti-piracy blocking has swept up legitimate sites along with the targets...

America is an imperialist cartel
Ok, we now have the actual text of the Greenland deal (whitehouse.gov/briefings-sta…), so we can say how it compares to the existing 1951 arrangement and who, between Trump and Denmark, lied the most in their framing of it. Long story short - which may surprise some - the Danes lied the most: Trump is pretty much correct in saying that this new deal grants the US control of Greenland. Let's look into what changed compared to the 1951 deal. 1) This is now a permanent arrangement: whereas the existing 1951 deal only lasted as long as NATO existed, this one "does not have an end date and may only be amended by mutual consent." It even survives a hypothetical future independence of Greenland: in that event, Denmark and Greenland must ensure that the independent Greenlandic state "affirmatively assume[s] all of the rights and obligations of the Kingdom of Denmark specified in this Agreement." 2) In the 1951 agreement, the US could set up bases only where both governments agreed, and only on the basis of NATO planning. The new deal locks in three bases: the US can "modernize and expand its activities" at Pituffik, its only base in Greenland until now, and "shall be allowed to establish an additional Defense Area at Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig." Further bases beyond these 3 can be justified by the defense of "the American continent," a US interest rather than a NATO one. Also, quite subtle but this is interesting: Article IV(iii) says that "the United States may establish additional defense areas in Greenland" and that consultations are then held "to decide implementation details based on mutual agreement." What this means is that the principle of a new base is automatically granted and only the implementation details require agreement. Article VII also gives the US "the right to raise concerns regarding construction, or change of use" of any building near a US base, after which the parties decide together what to do. Which means that the US has a say over civilian planning around its bases. 3) On US military movement across Greenland, the wording change between the 1951 agreement and this new one is quite funny. The 1951 text said (Art. V(3)): the US "may enjoy... the right of free access to and movement between the defense areas through Greenland, including territorial waters, by land, air and sea," but only "in accordance with general rules mutually agreed upon and issued by the appropriate Danish authority in Greenland." The new one says: "the United States of America shall enjoy... the right of free access to and movement between the Defense Areas through Greenland, including the Territorial Waters, by land, air and sea." That's it: "May" becomes "shall," and the US military movement no longer has to follow rules "issued by the appropriate Danish authority in Greenland." The US also gets something new on top: "undersea access to and movement within the Territorial Waters," i.e. submarines. 4) Non-NATO exclusion: non-NATO states are barred from military installations or a persistent presence in Greenland unless all three parties approve, giving the US an effective permanent veto. The 1951 deal had no equivalent clause. 5) Investment screening: this is entirely new. "States or investors from a state that is not a member of NATO, a NATO partner, or an EU member state" (i.e. Russia, China, India, the Gulf States, etc.), "shall not be allowed to have (i) control, (ii) significant influence, or (iii) access to non-public information...within Particularly Sensitive Sectors or Activities in the territory of Greenland (including the Territorial Waters), unless agreed between the Parties." Again, it basically means that the US has a permanent veto over who can invest in strategic sectors in Greenland, as far as non-NATO or EU states are concerned. 6) Lastly, in stark contrast with the 1951 deal, the framing of the deal changes significantly: this new deal is largely framed around the US. The 1951 agreement existed only "for the benefit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization." The new one lists the defense of "the American continent" as an objective, celebrates "the irreplaceable role" of the United States military as well as "the United States' indispensable historical and ongoing contributions to the security and defense of Greenland," and names the establishment of Trump's "Golden Dome" missile defense system as a key goal. So, to sum up: - The US secured a permanent military foothold that even an independent Greenland would inherit whether it likes it or not - The US now has veto power over any non-NATO military presence in Greenland, and over who can invest in its strategic infrastructure and resources (beyond NATO and the EU) - Denmark signed away its say over the principle of new US bases, with only the right to discuss the "implementation details" - Danish authorities no longer set the rules for US military movement across the island - And all of it is now justified by the defense of "the American continent" I don't know in which universe this even remotely "recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom and the Greenlandic people's right to self-determination," as Danish PM Mette Frederiksen put it (stm.dk/en/press/press-releas…). Yes, the preamble of the text cynically "reaffirms" Danish sovereignty but, in my book, when you let a foreign country put bases on your soil, move its troops without following your rules and veto who else can come in, in perpetuity, after it spent two years threatening to take you by force, the word for that is anything but "recognized sovereignty" 🤷

🦔Google is now prompting users on its homepage to set up a selfie video to sign into their account. You record a short video of your face from different angles. Google says it's an optional backup sign-in method. The setup page says the video may also determine if you're "old enough to use certain Google services." An optional toggle lets Google use your video to "improve facial recognition, age estimation, and other verification methods that use your physical features or movement, across Google services." My Take Passwords work. Two-factor authentication works. Google already knows your phone number, your location, your search history, and your email. Now they want a 3D map of your face. They've positioned it as a convenience feature so you can get back into your account if you're locked out. But the fine print says they can use it for age verification and, if you opt in, to train facial recognition across all of Google's services. You can change a password. You can get a new phone number. You can't change your face. Once Google has a 3D video scan of it, that data exists forever in their systems. Google used CAPTCHAs to train image recognition for years before most people realized it. The selfie video is the same idea with much more personal data attached. I don't think it stays optional for long. Every one of these starts as optional until enough people set it up, and then it becomes required for "security purposes." If you see this prompt, click "don't set up" and move on. Hedgie🤗
