The army of simpletons who think every regional development is to lower oil prices mix up cause & effect. Oil prices react to geopolitical events. That doesn't mean those events were orchestrated to move oil prices. Don't mix up the thermometer with the thermostat.
This meeting could have just been an email. The 3 arrived on a Monday to manipulate oil prices which is already happening as of this morning. The war on Yemen won’t end unless the blockade is lifted, and the strait will not (should not) be opened even if temporarily until the 7 conditions are met with the end of all regional wars at the top of the list. I am not opposed to a regional security architecture that ensures cooperation amongst the countries of the region for mutual defense and economic development, however it’s still immature to achieve this goal with the tension still in the region at its current state.

All the right people are pissed off at ... basic regional diplomacy. It's very touching
Sending the Saudi Minister of Defence to Tehran is simply madness. It's a kind of humiliating madness.

It goes without saying that during this very high tension time, this is a really big deal. These are very high level individuals. The Saudi defense minister is not going to casually show up to Tehran unless something is going on. I'd guess they're gonna talk about: - Some plan for mediations with the US - Drawing red lines for if active conflict breaks out again - The Saudi-Yemeni war It also goes to show Asim Munir's earlier trip wasn't necessarily a failure as it was depicted in some media outlets last week
Ali Bagheri Kani, Deputy Secretary of the SNSC, says that high level officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey will soon travel to Tehran for a summit. The idea was proposed by Asim Munir in his trip last week to meet with Iranian officials. Pakistan will be represented by Chief of the Army Staff Asim Munir. Saudi Arabia will be represented by Minister of Defense Khalid bin Salman. Turkey will be represented by director of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın. Iran will be represented by Secretary of the SNSC Mohsen Rezaei Reports in the Iranian media say this meeting is planned for today (Monday)

This also makes me rethink other events in the past week. I wonder if this summit was discussed in Ghalibaf's meeting with the Supreme Leader. The readout did broadly mention the war.

Confirmed by the Saudis too
HRH Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Minister of Defense, leads the Kingdom’s delegation to the meetings that will be held today in Tehran, capital of Iran, between Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries and officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran, with participation of Field Marshall Asim Munir, Pakistani Chief of Army Staff and Ibrahim Kalin, Director of the Turkish National Intelligence. Representatives of Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries will meet with the H.E. President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, and H.E. the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Mohsen Rezaei. The visit comes as part of the continued efforts by the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries for de-escalation between parties involved in the ongoing crisis, and promoting dialogue and diplomatic solutions, in support of the mediation efforts carried out by the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The visit underscore the pivotal role of Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries in reinforcing regional security and stability, and working with all countries in the region to achieve that goal.

Syria’s Ministry of Education has allegedly reissued a sixth-grade social studies textbook from 2012–2013, with noticeable changes to its imagery. These include removing photographs of women and children, veiling them, or blurring them out.

Beamer on El-Sayed: He has a birth certificate but he's not an American. He had the choice to be an American or not. He has chosen otherwise. He has blood that's red. However, he has chosen to remove any strain of the white and blue part in his blood. We cannot allow this man to invade and, occupy our country. (He is an American)

I haven't really heard anything about Flydubai Flight 1073 in weeks. It sounds like, despite Trump heavily implying it, there was no connection to Iran ...

What a bunch of cry babies
After US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Uzbekistan, Iranian embassies abroad posted that the city and its Registan square belong to Iranian-Islamic civilization. Uzbekistan answered by summoning Iran's ambassador and handing over a formal protest note demanding the posts be deleted. For Uzbekistan and for all Turkic countries, Samarkand is not a museum of someone else's civilization, it is the anchor of Uzbekistan's own national story.

The historian Mahmoud Mahmoud originally went by the name Mahmoud Pahlavi, but when Reza Shah picked Pahlavi as his own last name, Mahmoud was forced to change his, and decided to repeat his first name instead. He wrote an 8 volume history of British Iranian political relations.
I'm not sure if the question is being asked in jest or seriously but - Last names are a fairly new concept for Iranians. Before people had a name and then usually a title based on where they came from, their tribe, or rank. So when Reza Shah (who later overthrew the Qajars and started his own dynasty) was born, he was known as Reza Savadkoohi (Reza from Savadkooh, an area in Mazandaran). When he first entered the military he became known as Reza Maxim (he was trained on a maxim gun, which was a big deal then). As he went up in the ranks he was Reza Khan and Reza Mirpanj (names of different ranks). Finally after the coup and all the drama and events that happened, when he decided to found a new dynasty, he chose the name "Pahlavi" based on the name of the ancient script (undoubtedly as a part of his larger ideological project of emphasizing Iran's pre-Islamic heritage). And then early in his rule as a part of modernization efforts he made in mandatory for all Iranians to get last names, so everyone had to make up something. And the race of goldsmiths became Talakoubnejads.

I believe part of the justification for picking them name was also that his father was a member of the Palani tribe, and it sounded close enough.
