Math made all of this possible. Imagine discovering a discovery machine. It's the stuff of legends. Mathematicians should be euphoric.

AI is the Great Oxidation Event. When aerobic respiration arrived on Earth it unlocked 18x more power. As a result, aerobic life grew and anaerobic became niche. AI unlocks way more than 18x. The choice is either to accept niche fate or embrace and thrive.
A buttload of developers are going through a tough time right now. Their identity has always been tied to their ability to write code, so now they feel threatened by this new era where *anyone* can write code. If they don't write code anymore, who are they? I'm very pragmatic, and yet I've struggled with this too, so I totally understand how tough it must be for others. You'll hear from these people everywhere. They are the ones fighting with everything they've got against AI-generated code. But they must understand this is an uphill battle. Manually writing code is destined to disappear. There's no going back.

We trained a model to predict AI-written blog posts from structural features - and discovered the shape of slop. On posts it had never seen, it told AI and human apart with 98% accuracy, getting only 19 of 1,740 wrong. Paper and code: arxiv.org/abs/2609.15369

The vulnpocalypse is turning out a lot like Y2K. InfoSec already had a 0day/Nday problem. The pitch was that everything on the internet would face a constant stream of 0days. Instead, Glasswing, other projects, and people collecting CVEs like Pokemon have resulted in a bunch of things getting patched. We still haven’t seen a Log4j, Heartbleed, Shellshock, EternalBlue, etc equivalent out of all this. Even if one or two showed up today, based on the predictions, weren’t these supposed to be happening weekly or monthly?

Strong liability enforcement could be helpful in the AI debate. If your agent swarm goes rogue, you’re liable. If your weakly protected model gets jailbroken, you’re liable. If you serve a weakly protected OSS model, you’re liable.

a surprise I think is coming the quick payback periods and extraordinarily high IRR for AI infrastructure, even at monumental scale, will push up cost of capital sufficient to push many traditional businesses into the abyss, even those without obvious direct AI counter-exposure

This is insane. Looks like Facebook did a man-in-the-middle attack using their VPN service to steal data from other apps. This enabled them to see all SSL traffic, by creating a fake digital certificate to impersonate Snapchat, YouTube, Amazon etc. Seriously?
If you needed yet another reason not to trust VPN providers or proxy services... Here Facebook partnered with a bunch of companies to have root certificates installed on people's phones so they could intercept other app's traffic. storage.courtlistener.com/re…

I really cannot blame OpenAI and Google for trying to build AGI internally and to never share it with the world. If I was on the inside of OpenAI, perhaps I'd want the same. But I also cannot blame anyone else for trying to prevent an AGI monopoly.
