Benjamin Moser, author of Anti-Zionism: A Jewish History, told Rashid Khalidi that his 80-year-old mother, who had all but called him a Hamas member, apologized after reading his book: “I’m ashamed I ever said I was a Zionist.”
His book traces Jewish opposition to Zionism over the past century and challenges their exclusion in discussions over Palestine. “No, you don’t get to set the rules anymore. We’re setting the rules now,” Moser said.
Khalidi added that he had never seen so many people change their views so rapidly, noting that major publishers are now embracing books on Palestine that would have been virtually unpublishable just three or four years ago.

Brazil: Globo is reporting that most polling stations closed at 5 PM and printed the results, echoed by reporters in at least several states, despite the STF's extension of voting by two hours. The TSE has a section where people can complain if they're unable to vote and it is currently offline.

Another autocrat falls in Europe 🚨
Aleksandar Vučić loses the elections in Serbia. Student List projected to have 138 seats in the new parliament, well clear of the 126 required for majority, to Vučić’s 104.
First Viktor Orbán, now Vučić-will Rama, Albania’s strongman, be next?
Protesters in Albania burn a banner featuring PM Edi Rama and former Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. The banner read "This is a traitors' deal," referring to their attempt to stay in power at all costs. A nationwide protest is expected today at 14:00 in Tirana. #Day146 🦩

🚨🇧🇷 Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Cristiano Zanin extended voting nationwide by two hours, to 7 p.m. Brasília time, after President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's campaign reported bus shortages in nine states during Sunday's runoff against Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of jailed former President Jair Bolsonaro.
🔸Electoral rules require cities to run free transit at weekday levels on election day. In Salvador, in Lula's northeastern stronghold, Bahia's electoral court ordered the arrest of the city's mobility secretary, Pablo Souza, for withholding buses. In São Paulo, a court had ordered Mayor Ricardo Nunes, a Bolsonaro ally, to put out the full fleet. Lula's campaign says still only about 60% of buses were running.
🔸 Zanin stepped in after justice Kassio Nunes Marques, who has faced criticism over his alleged bias in favor of Bolsonaro, failed to rule before 5 p.m. when voting was set to close, leading to scenes of confusion at polling locations as some sites were forced to reopen.
🔸 Lula told reporters he had never complained about an election, win or lose. "But this time something abominable is happening," he said, according to The Guardian.
🔸 The fallout could reach beyond a delayed count. Eloísa Machado de Almeida, a constitutional law professor at FGV in São Paulo, said that if mayors coordinated with the Bolsonaro campaign to keep people from voting, Flávio's ticket and any mandate it wins could be annulled, and he could be barred from running.
🔸 It's not the first time. In the 2022 runoff, which Lula narrowly won, federal highway police under then-President Jair Bolsonaro stopped buses carrying voters, mostly in the northeast.

Use it at a corporate party? Recreational.
Use it on the street? Addict. Public safety threat.

I am following with concern the grave humanitarian situation in Yemen, particularly in the city of Taiz, where the population is suffering from a lack of food, water and medical care. I make a heartfelt appeal for hostilities to cease and for the Yemeni people and all the peoples of the region to be guaranteed the right to live in peace.

Congratulations, @LDoerkson, on your election victory.
I look forward to working with you as Premier to get more homes built, unleash our full potential as an energy superpower, and build a stronger British Columbia and a stronger Canada for all.
Thank you, Premier @Dave_Eby, for your service and all we’ve accomplished together. Major infrastructure projects launched. Export markets unlocked. Jobs protected.
I wish you and your family all the best in this next chapter.

The hotel scandal is wild to me. not a huge amount of money at the end of the day, but absolutely brazen behaviour from Ford’s grifter MPPs.
And I’m calling BS that any of these ghouls “paid it back.”
Every single thing this government does is both incompetent and corrupt.
