My 7 "obvious" takeaways to why MTSU football has an apathetic fan base and the awful attendance.
1. AD caters to a small board excluding lot's alum, students, and our two or 3 sidewalk fans.
2. The city of Murfreesboro and current admin has clashed for years furthering our suck. A water tower painting just isn't gonna move the dial.
3.Culture. Commuter school loaded with several Bama and UT fans who are too afraid to leave home and attend those schools (or get admitted). Also getting rid of Frat row was a terrible mistake for student attendance....also a lot of students never leave the tailgate
4. Product. Actions have always been too little too late (coaches hanging around, AD cushy cushy job, facilities neglected for too long) can go on and on.
5. Elder Alum stopped giving because they"ve received little in return(yes admin looking at you)....kids and grandkids stopped showing up.
6. Gimmicks. Yall know what I'm talking bout.
7. Nashville. Middle can't compete with concerts,tourist traps, etc on some weekends. The casual is busy spending money on heartburn and ear slop. Make number 4 better and it helps mitigate this one. It's not like we're a tiny little micropolitan and the Team is the feature. Not sure we can fix that?
