Just fully reduced to rhetorical nonsense by the worst people in the world defending the dumbest ideologies in the history of human thought. And then amplified by media stenographers. Why did I think that philosophical ideas were somehow immune to the orphan-crushing machine?

americans are so propagandized they believe your employer should fire you if you have cancer
European hiring rules are genuinely insane. For example - if you own a company in the Netherlands and one of your employees gets sick, you are required to pay at least 70% of their wages for up to 2 years. If they can't go back to work after 2 years and you haven't done enough for their reintegration, you pay their wages for 1 more year. And you can't fire them until after that extra year!

It's almost guaranteed that Democrats will win back the U.S. House. Instead of focusing on governing, centrist groups like Searchlight Institute and Third Way are already working to prevent Democrats from taking left positions like Medicare For All—even though voters want it.

Newspapers published during the era of the American Revolution contributed to the perpetuation of slavery. Advertised 250 years ago today: "RAN AWAY ... a Negro [woman named SARAH ... with a Negro fellow named PETER." (Dunlap's Pennsylvania Packet Postscript 10/29/1776)

.@RepSchneider reminds @playbookdc that the DSA has yet to flip a single House seat from red to blue. He said moderates will deliver the Democratic majority, and they don’t intend to let the far left dictate their agenda.

...Making and sticking to moral commitments builds political power in the long term, because it makes voters see your party as trustworthy, whereas the alternative--trimming on moral issues--makes you seem squirrelly: unworthy of THEIR trust. A big theme of my next book.

Smart. Wouldn’t want anyone to mistake you for the opposition.
.@SenBrianSchatz says that if Democrats take the Senate, the party's left wing needs to be strategic about not proposing things "that the president of the United States is guaranteed to veto." "If we want to be more aspirational, if we want to make more bold policy changes... that's for 2028."

Sorry for an essay on a shitty SNL joke but this clip is the PERFECT encapsulation of how Establishment Democrats view Zohran’s social media success versus what he actually does on here. Zohran’s entire communication style is always clear and effective while simply adapting it to common vertical video production features (good audio, minimal dead air, moving shots). This is especially true when it comes to serious situations like storms, where he focuses on clear recommendations and updates for the viewer. He also incorporates his genuine personality as well into the videos to make them authentic. This clip, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of that. It assumes Zohran is leaning into a ridiculous TikTok dance trend that doesn’t communicate actual practical information to the audience about flood zones or services the city offers during storms. It could not be further from what Zohran actually does on social media. This is just a one-off bad joke but it honestly isn’t too far off for how many people in power view Zohran’s social media presence. And that’s also why they’ve never been able to replicate it.
like what is this??

the correct stance WAS unpopular. the correct stance was that the civil rights movement was justified in protesting.
The Civil Rights Act had a 59% approval rating. I know it's fun to pretend that the correct stance was always unpopular so you can pretend your enemies will be the bad guys of future period pieces but the majority of the country was actually convinced on this.

Yeah I mean you wouldn’t want to propose popular things that the President strikes down, thereby making him look bad and you look good. Much better to either propose nothing or work with him on unpopular things, making you both look bad.

Let's just not make waves and confirm Trump's judges for two years, maybe let Republicans run the committees too, that would be the sensible move

This broken ideology actually explains a lot. They just genuinely do not understand the strategy of making President Trump veto popular things — it almost makes you wonder if they just don't support the popular things at all.
