These @RIPTA_RI cuts are absolutely horrendous. My MBTA train gets in 5:31, I then have to wait nearly an hour for the next bus home. @GovDanMcKee @JoeShekarchi @Val_Lawson where is the leadership? How does this help Rhode Islanders?

The biggest cuts in @RIPTA_RI history go into effect in a week, and they were rushed through so fast by @GovDanMcKee that RIPTA hasn’t even had time to write the new schedules. I have never been more angry at my local politicians. @JoeShekarchi silent, @Val_Lawson complicit. SMH.
Hi there, the new schedules will be posted as soon as they are ready on our website at RIPTA.com/Schedules.

DURING THE MIDDLE OF A WORK DAY. @GovDanMcKee @JoeShekarchi @Val_Lawson you are not working for the people of Rhode Island!!! We are literally begging you not to cut our buses!! Where is the leadership?
We are 1.5 hours in and on our 27th speaker, all who have spoken in favor of maintaining more service than the new plan offers

So far my Democrat Governor @GovDanMcKee has made it his legislative priority to…checks notes….cut bus service for the working class. Shocker we are losing registered voters…

Why do @GovDanMcKee @JoeShekarchi and @Val_Lawson have the same talking points as these right wing trump extremists..😒
We recognize the importance of public transportation, but we can’t ignore the needs of our rural communities, roads and bridges. Pennsylvania deserves a balanced, comprehensive plan that works for the entire Commonwealth.

The way that @JoeShekarchi and @Val_Lawson have teamed up with @GovDanMcKee to cut our buses and leave working class RI’ers stranded; they can share in his 19% approval rating.
Books & buses & a push by House Freedom to Read sponsor Rep ⁦@DavidMoralesRI⁩ for public transportation to get to libraries.

I hate this notion of “protecting taxpayer money.” NO this is exactly where I want my taxpayer money to go! Fund services like RIPTA, if someone car free mother of three gets a free ride to work on me GOOD!
The first @RIPTA_RI efficiency proposal relied too heavily on across-the-board service cuts. I'm encouraged that the Board took my recommendation to pursue a more balanced plan. Supporting public transit is important—as is protecting taxpayers' trust in how we spend their money.

RIDOT needs to be “right-sized” and needs to “operate within its means” I think we need an “efficiency study to protect taxpayer money.” See @GovDanMcKee I can do it too… #fundripta
TARGET 12: RIDOT budgeted $2 million to keep tow trucks on the Washington Bridge 24/7 The actual cost? $6.8 million so far - and rising fast Here's a closer look at why the budget was so far off and how much more taxpayers are set to spend in the future wpri.com/target-12/6-8-milli…

The taxpayers already spent $400k on that efficiency study. @GovDanMcKee is mad the study showed RIPTA is efficient and there’s no way to operate if he cuts their funding. He says he wants to “protect taxpayers” instead he’s just wasting money to launch his vendetta on bus riders

I honestly didn’t expect @GovDanMcKee to be this bad as a gov. He guts RIPTA funding, doesn’t like the blowback from voters, so instead of actually doing the right thing he goes “these cuts are making me look bad so cut service DIFFERENTLY!” 🤦 Just fund the buses dude..

Jen is right. @RIDemParty hold the Governors office, the House and the Senate. So the fact that basic public services like public transportation are being cut falls entirely on them. Deliberately hurting working class, disabled, environmentally conscious RIers will cost them.
Replying to @JenStewartRI
When government ignores the voices of the people, regular people lose faith in democracy. Instead we need to listen to what everyday Rhode Islanders are saying at meetings like the one in Pawtucket and support RIPTA.

Completely gutting public transportation will effectively derail all of these objectives. Jobs, tourism, housing all depend on a functioning transportation system.
Rhode Island is getting things done. From infrastructure to jobs to tourism and so much more—we’re delivering real results for Rhode Islanders.

This is hard to watch. @GovDanMcKee @JoeShekarchi @Val_Lawson is this how you treat Rhode Islanders who rely on basic public services?
A few of the 100+ riders who have come out to speak up and speak out against the devastating service cuts due to the defunding of RIPTA. ❌🚌 @GovDanMcKee are you listening?

“Saving the taxpayer money.” No ur forcing everyone 2 now find more expensive forms of transport. @GovDanMcKee is cuttting ur $2 bus & making u pay 4 a $20 uber. It’s not like by cutting RIPTA we’re getting a tax break? No instead it’s big corpos like Citizens getting tax cuts…

Two states literally next to each other, both led by “democrats”; but one actually working for its working class people. Wtf is the @RIDemParty doing. Utterly embarrassing.
