Running Riot
It is my Great Honor to endorse America First Patriot, Marty O'Donnell, who is running to represent the incredible people of Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.   Marty is running against Susie Lee, a true Radical Left Extremist who does not represent the Values of Southern Nevada. Susie Lee wants Open Borders, Men playing in Women’s Sports, Transgender for Everyone, Defund the Police, and she wants to take away your Second Amendment, meaning, your guns. She voted AGAINST the Biggest Tax Cut in History (including NO TAX ON TIPS!), and fought ferociously to knock out Rural Healthcare, a big factor in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.   In contrast, Marty O’Donnell is a World Class Composer and Entrepreneur who knows the America First Policies required to Create GREAT Jobs, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote NO TAX ON TIPS, Advance MADE IN THE U.S.A., Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, and Champion our Nation’s Golden Age. As your next Congressman, Marty will fight tirelessly to Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Strengthen our Brave Military/Veterans, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.   Marty O'Donnell has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Representative from Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. GET OUT AND VOTE FOR MARTY — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!

We got your back, New York!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Several figures here aren’t federal results or NY-specific. The $472B combines US wide pledges: Micron's $250B is nationwide (NY site $100B) Anthropic's $50B covers TX and NY. The 48% murder drop is from NY's state run GIVE program (28 departments, Jan – May 2026). arkolith.com/news/news-micr… therepublic.com/?p=843020 governor.ny.gov/news/safer-str…

Michigan Republicans, funded by Musk and other billionaires, have no answers to the struggles facing working families. Instead they are resorting to Islamophobia and are running the most racist campaign in recent history. Together, let's defeat bigotry and elect Abdul El-Sayed.

The thing is. And this was a major 🔑 for me several years ago, in thinking about the podcast, is that communists are obsessed with capitalism. Some of them are so obsessed that they might even secretly love it. Whereas capitalists rarely spend any time thinking about it.
I love the Odd Lots podcast, but I could do without the commie gobbledygook that occasionally appears in the programming

‼️ BREAKING: The private keys of 8 certificates from Indian certificate authority eMudhra were compromised, Mozilla says. Firefox blocked them within 3 hours. Each key should be a 116-digit number, but one was just 4. Anyone can guess them and forge HTTPS certs for any website.

Guy who votes straight democrat in the midterms because the Trump administration cancels an Umamusume concert:
During preparation for the 7th EVENT: THE STAGE in LOS ANGELES concerts planned for Oct 22–23, 2026, we received notice that the visas for entry into the US had yet to be approved. In response, we are coordinating with all parties concerned to explore every possible option to get the visas approved and make the concerts happen. Our final decision on whether or not it will be possible to hold the concerts will be announced by 10:00 p.m., Oct 19 (PT), so we ask for your patience until then. To all the Trainers who have been eagerly looking forward to the show, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern this causes, and for announcing this so close to the event date. Please check the notice for details. umamusume.com/news/100110/

It is unambiguously true that the international perception of the UK being particularly broken or in decline compared to the rest of Europe is almost exclusively down to countries like France or Germany cunningly disguising their insanity by writing the news in French or German
It feels like the United Kingdom might genuinely be the most normal country in Europe.

What a "free market" does is not to rationally coordinate resources through the price mechanism. What it does is mediate decisions about what social resources ought to be used for through rituals of the capital market so that political order can avoid being responsible for them

Trust in other people in the UK is slightly higher than it was 25 years ago. And there's little convincing evidence of decline since the 1990s. I'm surprised by that and it's a useful counterpoint to my broad impression that the country has deteriorated socially.

The thing is - “why can’t we use the empty properties first” - is one of the most popular retorts in Tory shires to building more homes.

Switzerland has run current account (trade) surpluses for decades. France went into deficit in the 2000s, roughly when the lines diverge. A fiscal surplus works when the foreign sector supplies net flows. When the fgn sector is net saving instead, the govt deficit mirrors that.
🇫🇷🇨🇭 France is now widely described as the sick man of Europe, yet Switzerland is rarely mentioned as a compelling counterfactual. The two countries followed almost identical fiscal paths between 1990 and 2000, with Switzerland also carrying substantial public debt by the standards of the time and facing a rising debt trajectory. In 2001, however, Switzerland enshrined an optimal fiscal rule in its constitution and subsequently implemented it to the letter, with extraordinary results. The question remains the same, why does the economics profession not study the Swiss case more thoroughly?
