We used to let cigarette companies plaster stadiums with ads. Then we banned it: bad for adults, worse for kids. We've forgotten all of it. Now corporations shill a new addiction, gambling, at our youth, and no one (owners, govt, players) gives a damn.

vulnzero. the scaling laws will have driven cyber mythos-class capabilities into small, cheap models and all software dev everywhere will be using models for fractions of pennies on the dollar to stop shipping security bugs permanently.
ESPN turning sports betting into a colorful, cartoon-style tutorial is an utter disgrace.

Chick-fil-A is adding some heat to its signature sauce.
The chain has announced Spicy Chick-fil-A Sauce, its first new permanent sauce in 10 years. It mixes the familiar flavor of its classic sauce with spicy peppers and a touch of sweetness. Its last permanent sauce addition was Sweet & Spicy Sriracha in 2016.

After a decorated 24-year run at ESPN, Nicole Noren resigned in protest.
She couldn’t go along with the network’s all-out embrace of gambling.
For the first time publicly, in @CJR, Noren shares the deeply personal reasons behind her decision.

I’m ok if politicians texting me, if they are actually texting me, and will respond to one response from me. If it’s automated and not them, they need to STFU and email me.
I’m nominating “leftover money” being $60k as the standard for post-economic
Kuz is either willfully ignorant or a sellout
Sports betting is correct but for you all that look at LeBron or any other person that are involved in prediction markets are totally misinformed on the subject. calling prediction markets sports gambling is like calling the stock market a casino. you don't have to like it, but it's a regulated exchange where people trade with each other, not a house that profits when you lose. Know the difference

Wow, all these unsolicited text messages from members of congress asking for $ is making me want to continue to donate $ to them!

At the gym tonight, there just so happened to be about 8 high school guys in the sauna.
The entire 15 minutes I was in there with them, the entire conversation was about Kalshi, Draftkings, and how the entire school is hooked.
How they get gambling tips from TikTok, what kids are losing the most, who is taking the most money from their parents to gamble, how they sneak their parents identity to get around age limits, etc...
Not to sound like that guy looking down on the younger generation but I had no idea how bad the online gambling situation was.
This isn't the first time either. Anytime I'm around high school kids, all they talk about is sports and gambling.
These online platforms really have that generation hooked and it's not going to lead to a good outcome.

if your pfp is a cartoon you will feel closer to an anon account to me..which is fine but then I would consider posting a lot to hone a voice that feels very real/raw, witty, funny, valuable, distinct
similarly below 3k I would systematize that reply guy strategy (xitter.cf/ashebytes/status/21031…)
but for your account vibes I would also play with posting like 10-20x each day and growing my voice. I would commit to doing this for 30 days and maybe do an audit every sunday of my timeline. are you delighted when scrolling through? do you find it valuable? are you engaged with your old posts? if not remove every post that doesn't delight you and try again the following week.
goal is just honing your voice. you don't have to niche down but it does have to feel resonant

if I had your account on X tomorrow and was tasked with growing it to 1k in 30 days I would, in the first 45 min of the day with coffee, go on an X list that I curated with people in my niche (at all diff account sizes) and genuinely look to deliver value in their replies, with 20-50 reply posts daily
I would then sign off X and live my life and go on again in the evening, follow up on any conversations, and have an agent ping me EOD to confirm I met this goal. if not I would rescan the list
if you do this every day for 30 days you will grow and build relationships - which is key to X vs other platforms. it is why the most dealmaking happens on here..people had to build relationships and be in community to gain visibility

Prediction: gambling platforms (Kalshi, Polymarket, etc) will form partnerships with gig marketplaces (Uber, DoorDash) and let the drivers/dashers get paid in 110% of their earnings in betting credits instead of cash. Very unfortunate, but think things are headed this way.
I can’t tell if this is satire, but this is so incredibly depressing. Technology removing uncertainty is great most of the time! Taking out all the uncertainty of the path to finding your one, takes the joy out of life.
Gambling is a drug and should be regulated. Why do people need to jump through hoops to become accredited investors but the friction to make super negative EV SGPs is minimal? Society is cooked.

As someone who used to have immense respect for LeBron for his basketball accomplishments, consider me a a hater now. Pure greed that will lead to extremely negative consequences for 10s of thousands of young men. Thanks @KingJames
