Hurricanes form over the ocean over warm water and, needing that warm water to survive, don’t tend to make it up further into the continental US. The reason they hit on the Atlantic Gulf more often is because the water is warmer than the pacific.

I was born and raised in FL too and have always had state pride -- that's why I stayed in Florida for college and am proud to live in the town I grew up in!
Ridiculous for our Governor (who just banned abortion at 6 weeks) to claim that he's the one creating state pride. SMDH.
