In the summer of 2024, as the FBI was closing in on Matthew Farwell, the then ex-Stoughton Police Detective wrote what a federal prosecutor called a "goodbye letter to his best friend," asking this his kids be taken care of. Farwell ended that letter with: "see you on the other side." Then, on July 5, 2024, Easton Police got a 911 call that a black GMC truck had plowed into National Grid pole head-on with such force, it split the pole in two. The truck's airbags all deployed in the one-vehicle collision that occurred very close to the ex cop's Chesnut Street home. The driver? Matthew Farwell. He told responding officers slammed into the pole when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer.
