Bonus: every row is a contiguous slice, so building the tree is one parallel pass per row, with no locks and no unsafe.

@OsirisDjed @0xKitsune yes I'm finally posting this after 2 years...
The fix: grow sideways. The left edge becomes a “spine”. Each spine node sits in the empty slot 0 of the heap for its right subtree. Doubling the array appends one chunk, and nothing moves.
The usual array layout (a heap) renumbers every node when the tree grows a level. That’s fine in RAM and painful in a 30 GB mmap’d file.
A fixed-depth Merkle tree with 2³⁰ leaves is ~64 GiB if you store all of it, and almost all of that is hashes of empty leaves. I wanted a tree that’s dense, growable and never rewrites itself. 🧵

Introducing World Chain v2.4.0. Full Block Access Lists, an out-of-protocol sidecar to Flashblocks that enables parallel pre-processing of full blocks, shard by shard, before consensus validates them. Lower hardware requirements for every validator on the network, and stronger decentralization because of it. github.com/worldcoin/world-c…

This is an L take. Pretty fundamental misunderstanding of how the tech actually works IMO.

Block Level Access lists shift the execution-related bottlenecks from verification to block building.
Obvious feature that should make its way on every EVM blockchain.
For the last couple of days I and @e_she_kaa were running local devnets for for testing our implementation of Block-Level Access Lists (EIP-7928) in reth. Glad to share everything is working fine. Thanks to @rakitadragan , @mattsse_ and reth team for all the support :)
