Elwood P. Dowd :
Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant."
Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

Incredible blasphemy: Yes, the core claims are true, with some important context about purpose and framing.
The Italian Bishops’ Conference (CEI), together with the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI), produced a set of 11 fact sheets titled Schede per conoscere l’Islam (“Factsheets for Understanding Islam”). These were presented on 21 October 2026 at Palazzo Borromeo in Rome (the Italian Embassy to the Holy See), with Cardinal Matteo Zuppi (president of the CEI) in attendance. The materials were prepared jointly by Catholic and Muslim experts and are intended primarily as resources for authors of textbooks and for teachers in Italian state-school Catholic religion classes (IRC). They had been available since a first presentation in November 2025.
Vatican News explicitly describes the content: the sheets cover topics starting with “What is Islam?” and “A Brief History of Islam,” then address faith and theology, “il Corano come parola rivelata di Dio” (the Quran as the revealed Word of God), the prophetic model, worship (‘ibāda), the Muslim community (Umma), spirituality, convergences and divergences with Christianity, Islam in Italy, and interreligious dialogue.
The fourth sheet is literally titled “4. IL CORANO: PAROLA RIVELATA DI DIO” (“The Quran: Revealed Word of God”). Its text states, in the context of explaining Islamic belief: “La Parola di Dio, di per se stessa inconoscibile, si rende disponibile agli uomini attraverso la mediazione della recitazione orale e della lettura scritta del Corano” (The Word of God, unknowable in itself, becomes available to men through the mediation of the oral recitation and written reading of the Quran), along with related Islamic doctrines about its celestial preservation and revelation.
Cardinal Zuppi described the jointly created materials as “un grande antidoto alla violenza e all’ignoranza” (a great antidote to violence and ignorance). He and other organizers framed them as tools to combat prejudice, go beyond stereotypes, and support dialogue and social cohesion in a pluralistic society, referencing the spirit of Vatican II’s Nostra aetate. He has also characterized school religion classes in terms of a “laboratory of culture and dialogue.”
Clarifications from the CEI side: After criticism spread, CEI spokesperson Vincenzo Corrado called claims that the bishops were introducing “Islam hours” into Catholic religious education or abandoning the Catholic character of the class “fake news.” The sheets are resources for textbook publishers and teacher formation to improve coverage of other religions (similar materials exist on Judaism, with more planned for Hinduism and Buddhism). Official IRC guidelines remain focused on Catholic doctrine, the Bible, and Church teaching, adopted by decree after agreement between the Italian state and the CEI. The sheets include a section on convergences and divergences with Christianity.
The critical reading (reflected in the X post and outlets such as LifeSiteNews) is that materials meant for Catholic religion classes present core Islamic claims—such as the Quran as the revealed Word of God—in a manner that affirms them from within the Islamic perspective (as part of a mutually agreed text), without strong contrasting Catholic theological evaluation. This is occurring while reports of violence against Christians continue in places such as Nigeria and parts of the Middle East.
In short: the fact sheets exist, they were produced with Muslim partners for school-related use, one is titled and treats the Quran as the revealed Word of God in the Islamic sense, and Zuppi called them an antidote to violence and ignorance. The precise scope is resource material for teachers and textbooks rather than a mandatory new curriculum replacing Catholic content. The debate centers on whether this style of presentation is appropriate in Catholic religion classes.
Italian bishops just put out “fact sheets” for Catholic schools that call the Quran “the revealed word of God.”
Cardinal Zuppi calls it an antidote to violence and ignorance. The material was developed with Muslim partners. It treats Islamic claims as something to affirm rather than examine.
While Christians are killed for their faith from Nigeria to the Middle East, the Church is teaching Italian children that the Quran is divine revelation. This is not dialogue. This is surrender

Odds aren't votes.Polymarket is a betting market of traders, not a poll of Michiganders. A few big wallets can move the number, then the media treats it like gospel. Actual polls show a mid-single-digit race, not a lock. Early voting ends Sunday. Polls are open 7 AM–8 PM Tuesday.
Michigan voters decide this, not a price chart. Get out and vote for Mike Rogers. Don't let the narrative talk you out of showing up.

Eylea is a great drug. EyleaHD growing rapidly is interesting and instructive.
Eylea is 2mg. EyleaHD is 8mg. Half life ~7 days.
That implies 2 weeks longer duration. Even if it really adds 4 weeks, it is a marginal improvement and at the margin it is driving rapid uptake.
That learning informs owners of $OCUL where the added duration of Axpaxli is multiples of the duration of EyleaHD.
Replying to @wallstlobo
$OCUL well the Eyelea franchise (original plus HD) is running at ~$4.5 billion annual rate
Interesting move. Hope it is not too late.
Why was he not running on this the entire time?
🚨 JUST IN: Vivek Ramaswamy just announced his FIRST 7 executive orders he'll sign on DAY ONE as Ohio governor, all before midnight on January 11, and IT'S PURE GOLD
- Investigate every Ohio jurisdiction where property taxes jumped 100%+ since 2020
- END sanctuary cities, cutting state grants to locals who won't work with ICE
- Cap Medicaid spending so Ohio keeps more of the money it saves from stopping fraud
- Prioritize solving violent crimes; only 34% are cleared right now
- Review EVERY state contract to cut waste
- Launch an anti-fraud task force reporting straight to the Governor (Medicaid, benefits, child care, visa, voter registration, and foreign CDL fraud)
- Pause new data center projects until the legislature passes a comprehensive data center law
This is common sense and OHIO CITIZENS FIRST.
Elect this man, NOT Amy Acton, Ohio!

Hillary Clinton goes to a gifted-student primary school in New York to talk about the world. After her talk she offers to answer questions from the kids.
One little boy puts up his hand. Hillary asks him what his name is.
"Kenny," he says.
"And what is your question, Kenny?" she asks.
"I have three questions," he says. "First -- what happened in Benghazi? "Second -- why would you run for president if you are not capable of handling two e-mail accounts? "Third -- what happened to that six billion dollars that went missing while you were Secretary of State?”
Just then the bell rings for recess.
Hillary tells the students that they will continue after recess. When they resume Hillary says,
"Okay, where were we? Oh, that's right, question time. Who has a question?”
A different boy -- little Johnny -- puts his hand up.
Hillary points to him and asks him what his name is.
"Johnny," he says.
"What is your question, Johnny?" she asks.
"I have five questions," he says. "First -- what happened in Benghazi? "Second -- why would you run for president if you are not capable of handling two e-mail accounts? "Third -- whatever happened to that six billion dollars that went missing while you were Secretary of State? "Fourth -- why did the recess bell go off 21 minutes early? "And, fifth -- where's Kenny?”

I’m in my 20s, with a family to feed. In my community, we marry young, so almost all my friends are in the same position: married, raising children, and working hard to provide for our families.
We constantly talk about how difficult things have become economically. Groceries are outrageously expensive, especially kosher food, which already costs more than regular groceries. Rent in NYC is through the roof, gas is expensive, and the cost of raising a family is rising every single month.
And yet, despite feeling all of this firsthand, there isn’t even the slightest desire among us to see Democrats win the midterms. Not even a fraction of a percent.
Because there’s a huge difference between struggling financially and living under a government you believe threatens the very freedoms that make this country worth living in.
I wish the president would make better economic decisions. I wish groceries were cheaper, rent was more affordable, and providing for a family didn’t feel like such an uphill battle.
But at the end of the day, I’m willing to endure economic hardship for a country I believe in. What I’m not willing to do is trade the future of that country for a few extra dollars in my bank account.
Some things are worth more than money, and having a country worth passing on to my children is one of them.

"In a democracy, we have always had to worry about the ignorance of the uneducated. Today we have to worry about the ignorance of people with college degrees." — Thomas Sowell
Central planning destroys the Earth and everything beautiful about it.
Between 1948 and 1973, the Soviet Union slaughtered 180,000 whales in the Southern Ocean alone, often falsifying the catch numbers they reported to the International Whaling Commission. Soviet ships hunted species already near commercial extinction: humpbacks, blues, fins, and even orcas. They killed them at a staggering loss, processed them inefficiently, and dumped enormous quantities of oil and meat that exceeded any plausible domestic demand. The operation was economically irrational by any measure.
Which is exactly what you should expect.
No Soviet whaling captain owned the vessel or the whales. No bureaucrat in Moscow bore the cost of depleting the stock. The entire operation ran on state quotas, state ships, and state salaries. Property rights price scarcity into human decisions. Strip them away, and you strip away the signal that tells fishermen, farmers, and whalers when to stop. The incentive structure pointed in exactly one direction: maximize tonnage to hit the plan numbers, regardless of long-run consequences.
Private whalers operating in a system of enforceable property rights face a brutal disciplining mechanism: overfish, and you destroy your own future revenue. The Soviet state answered to a five-year plan, not profit and loss.
Garrett Hardin called this the tragedy of the commons. The Soviets ran that tragedy at industrial scale, with military logistics, for three decades. Hundreds of thousands of whales paid the price.

Imagine being this dumb
I was thinking What happens if @SpaceX takes just 10% of the US wireless market from Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile?
Roughly $20 BILLION in annual revenue lost from 30M departing customers.
Another $15 BILLION lost if SpaceX forces just a $5 monthly price reduction across the remaining 250M connections.
That's nearly $35 BILLION in annual revenue and $23 BILLION in EBITDA at risk.
At an 8x multiple, that's potentially $180 BILLION in enterprise value under threat.
And here's what I think MNOs seem to now understand and why they will push back on helping SpaceX with an MVNO deal because SpaceX doesn't need to win the wireless market to destroy its economics.
The real threat isn't the 10% of customers they lose. It's what happens to the pricing power of the other 90%.😀

Turnout so far by Blacks in the South is up some 50% vs 2022. The combination of Trump disapproval, inflation concerns, anger at gerrymandering, and poor candidate quality by GOP in some states might yet produce an earthquake. Also a clear reversal coming of the Hispanic swing to Trump in 2024.

This is a brilliant interview.
Key idea on how to find a universal vaccine - mix very low doses of a bunch of different variants together so only the common conserved regions will provide a high enough dose to elicit a response.
New episode on universal flu vaccines (and antivenoms) with @CurlyJungleJake, CEO of @centivax. They're trying to create a vaccine that protects against all strains of influenza: past, present, and future.
This is obviously a difficult thing to do. Seasonal flu vaccines are designed to protect against a virus that constantly mutates and recombines in animals. The efficacy of seasonal vaccines is also quite low; ranging from about 15 to 60 percent.
Instead of making vaccines that protect against only a few circulating strains of the virus, Centivax is trying to teach the immune system to recognize parts of the virus that many strains share and that resist mutation. The hope is that antibodies targeting these regions could protect even against strains we haven’t encountered yet, without scientists having to reformulate the vaccine every year.
Things seem to be going well: the company has tested the vaccine in about 180 people so far and will soon begin a Phase 2 trial.
This is probably the most ambitious technical interview I’ve ever done. We cover some extremely deep immunology, but Jake explained the ideas really clearly, and I left feeling like I finally understood how vaccines work and how scientists make them. I also came away much more convinced that a universal flu vaccine could work.

That is right. The Democrats will do anything to prevent the electorate from learning the extent of the fraud they are conducting.
People are policy and in many blue states and cities the Democrats control the Prosecutors and Judges.
When pro-life activists exposed abortion clinics selling baby parts in California, Democrats filed felonies against the activists.
When Nick Shirley exposed immigrant fraud in California, Democrats passed an anti-Nick Shirley law.
When James O’Keefe exposed Minnesota election fraud, Democrats filed felony charges against him.
Democrats have become an organized crime cartel masquerading as a political party.
