I think mons like Swinub, Teddiursa, Gligar and Skarmory being available only right before Gym 8 is almost as bad as the post-game exclusives tbh Add those on top of a bunch of babies and evolutions of mons from Kanto and it starts feeling a little thin

So I replayed vanilla HGSS this year and I swear, you literally have to be purposefully blind to disregard the weird level curve the game has. If you think it's a non issue then more power to you ig but like genuinely look at my teams.

Some are hung up on the first point re:using all 6 slots, so I'll clarify: In itself, it's not a problem. But having two slow EXPers in Miltank/Larv on top of working a full 6 would be. ESPECIALLY when OP states that they refuse to level beyond trainer encounters. EXP is finite.
