I plan a birthday trip every year because, in my experience, our friends with kids LOVE taking the weekend without kids to go canyoneering and climbing and cook good food and hang out with like 7 other couples but couldn't plan a weekend like that and so are thrilled to have someone else plan it, even if it's ostensibly a "birthday weekend". Did the same thing earlier this year when we planned a 40th birthday trip to Iceland for my wife and a couple years ago when I did something similar to Mexico.

I work more than a full-time job and do all the shopping and cooking and there are weeks where I make steak frites and Viet-Cajun chicken and homemade chicken pot pies and there are weeks where I make bean burritos twice and bag salad with mac and cheese twice and the cool part of handling the cooking for the family is that you can tell them what they get for dinner and if they don't like it, tough luck.
Please come up with 365 meals, not using the same one more than once a month with pork, beef, and chicken. Also take into account how many people youre feeding and their different diets and preferences.

There’s not a single tech leader I’d trust to be a homeroom parent and these goobers are shaping society.
I think the fact that Marissa Mayer would voluntarily disclose this to a reporter is a pretty good demonstration of how deeply the culture of Silicon Valley has diverged from the rest of humanity

“Food in America is just not very good.”
Food in America is just not very good. You’ll end up disappointed if you try eating somewhere nice. Sticking to their ‘low cuisine’ (which they do quite well, and is also very well-priced) is by far your best option despite this being exceptionally unhealthy.

Bold move for a Mormon to argue that non orthodox understandings of the nature of God are disqualifying – at Brookmont, MD
It’s hard to be this wrong this many times. Talarico somehow managed to do it (watch the video if you don’t believe me). Texas, don’t elect this nightmare!

I texted my children that we got the puppy they’ve been begging me for and sent them a link with pictures. 🐶When they clicked on the link, it took them to a webpage that said YOU’RE GROUNDED. They’ll be spending the weekend retaking our family’s cybersecurity training course.

this was me in college but with caffeine pills crushed into energy drinks
I used to brew a first round of coffee just to use that coffee as the water to brew for the real coffee. Then I would take a freezing cold shower and 20mg of adderall. Then I would study for 28 hours straight omg I need her back so bad right now

AI went from “hahaha it doesn’t know how many fingers a human has” to “wow this does some cool stuff” to “holy shit this is literally curing cancer” to “AI is hacking literally the entire internet and probably your bank accounts and is probably going to make a bioweapon soon” in like 18 months.

During Trump's first term, he did a lot of things that caused people to say (essentially) "whoa - we give the President too much power! Now we have a genuinely bad guy who's legitimately abusing this executive power and we should try to stop it!" Then Biden got into office and all those same people said (essentially) "alright alright alright - now that we've got our guy in here let's make sure that the executive branch doesn't lose any power - we've gotta get our policy wins in! There's no way we'll ever come to regret blowing the opportunity to weaken the executive just in case we ever get another bad dude in office who wants to abuse it!" Now all those same people are, yet again, complaining that Trump has too much power. Right now, the filibuster stops an increasingly unhinged Trump (with assists from Mike Lee) from pushing through some truly disastrous federal laws. Everyone should be thrilled that the filibuster exists. I generally think that the OP here has reasonable takes (even though I disagree with a lot of them), but "Dems had better abolish the filibuster!" is truly bonkers. The GOP will have a trifecta again. The GOP's obsession with Trump hasn't broken and there's a pretty good chance that the next Republican President is some variation on Trump. Abolishing the filibuster just because you want policy wins for a couple of years, while pretending that the decision won't have disastrous long-term consequences, is exactly the attitude Dems took during the Biden administration and exactly the reason why Trump is able to cause such a shitshow now.
I really hope Democrats don’t use winning a Senate majority as an excuse not to abolish the filibuster

My "I promise you guys this product actually exists and performs as marketed but for reals this time" t-shirt raises a lot of questions that are already answered by my t-shirt.
Update: He said “this is real” at least 5 times, is completely “reinventing aviation”, and started the whole presentation with a tirade about the Justice Department coming after him. It was kinda a mess…

We would be incredibly lucky to have @LGHendersonUtah as our next Governor.
I don’t know if folks fully grasp how remarkable this statement is from @LGHendersonUtah From a courage standpoint. From a clarity standpoint. And from a factual standpoint.

I like geeking out on election results as much as the average upper middle class white guy with a graduate degree, but all of you people hyperventilating over turnout data after the first 2 hours of in-person voting in a handful of counties in like 2 states really need another hobby

(For context, OP clarifies several times that she’s specifically pointing out that BYU’s student section is white and calling it something to be proud of) I think this lady claims to be LDS but it’s clear that she’s either ignorant of what the school and the church actually teach or she just chooses to ignore it. It’s almost impossible to pick a school whose student body cares less about how white it is (find me a university where more of its American students have lived abroad) and LDS leaders have been very aggressive about condemning racism and calling it out as a sin that members need to repent of and avoid. Disappointing to see members take an otherwise cool moment and use it to push their culture war idiocy.
I know people love to make fun of the Mormons because it's easy, but look at that student section. Texas, take note.
