She was found with lacerations, a bad ligature wound to her back leg, which looks like she may have been tethered by her hind limb, full of worms and fleas and with bent front limbs, likely down to poor nutrition. We’ve got her through the worst bit and got her all the treatment she needs and tomorrow she leaves the vets to go into foster under one of the rescues that we work with. Lots of healing physically and mentally and the start of a new life of happiness. It took some time to catch her but eventually she was caught and brought to us. Unsurprisingly she was never claimed. Chelsea has taken some time to trust humans, she was a very timid girl when she arrived and it’s taken months to get her confident enough to come out of kennel and into our enclosed field. She’s not yet happily walking on a lead but we’re definitely heading in the right direction! Her best friend Chase is definitely helping to show her the way, you won’t see one without the other 🐕🐕 It would be lovely if they were rehomed together but I do understand rehoming one large black dog is a big ask so I doubt we’ll find someone to adopt the 2? But if they aren’t rehomed together Chelsea MUST be rehomed with a confident resident dog. Chelsea is dog friendly, she’s very calm around dogs, she’s actually a very calm dog in general! She has a very sweet nature and loves spending time with the humans she now trusts. She’d benefit from a calm home with someone willing to give her time to come out of her shell and bond in her own time. Chelsea is around 2y.o and a very small, broken coated Lurcher, she’s probably got Staffie in there somewhere as you can see by her face  She can be rehomed with teenagers and above and she’s not met cats. Due to an unfortunate change in circumstances and declining health the owner decided the best thing for them both would be to come to a foster based reputable rescue and we were more than happy to step in and help. They are now in foster in Doncaster and are every bit as sweet and lovelable as their owner described. They walk well on the lead, are great in the house and car,  are very affectionate and absolutely no trouble at all.  Because they are so bonded, they do get upset without each other and therefore we will not be splitting them up.   So we are looking for a very loving home for both of them, with people around most of the day for company who can give them a couple of gentle walks in the countryside each day and love them for the rest of their lives. They are such gentle sweet girls and would suit a quieter home with or without another neutered dog.  They have lived with cats in the past but we haven't yet had the chance to cat test them to verify this.   Any children would need to be over the age of 8.  A fully enclosed gardem is also a must.  Both have visited our vets and have been given their first vaccination so far, been treated for fleas and worms and fully health checked and have a clean bill of health.   Fonty is already spayed and Dixie will be spayed very soon and receive a dental and have a skin tag removal  before she leaves the rescue for her new home with her Mum.
