One of the big traps in marketing right now is creating the most sophisticated ai systems, infra and processes you’ve ever seen.
In order to produce the worst, most commodity output.

Meta.
Since people learned you can turn off AI overviews by using curse words, it looks like more people are cursing while searching.

Friendly reminder that LLMs are not 'truth engines' trained on true/false information.
They are 'Language Models' trained to predict language.

Across dozens, maybe hundreds of distinct pieces of user research, the most consistent piece of feedback is to literally just say what the dang product is and does.
Forget positioning. Benefits. Use cases. Client pain points. At least up front.
Job 1: what the hell is it?
I’ve talked to a lot of first time founders over the years.
These are the 10 most common marketing mistakes I see them doing:
1. A landing page so focused on the benefits that visitors don’t understand what the product is
2. Not building a solid search strategy from day one because it takes time
3. Different messaging across different channels that confuse people
4. Not using email marketing to convert people who weren’t ready to buy on their first visit
5. Too much focus on launch and not enough on a sustainable customer acquisition strategy
6. Adding too many features to a product that lacks a clear positioning
7. Using their product social media account only to post and not to actively engage
8. Not spending enough time researching what really motivates their ideal customer profile to buy
9. Spending their small ads budget targeting cold audience instead of starting with retargeting
10. Underestimating how long it really takes to execute a successful marketing strategy
If you’re just starting out and avoid these you’ll be already in the top 1%.

I'm not sure why BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA is trending, but it seems as good a time as any for my Muppet version...

(1 of 4:) A corporation is NOT a person. It is NOT a human being, even if our legal system recognizes it as such. It is a profit-seeking collective, an inhuman conglomerate which eats numbers and shits misery. We, the members of the WGA, are the human beings in this conflict.
