“The unborn already belong to the human family, and to the future of their people. Their absolute dependence on their mother does not diminish the dignity to which they are entitled, nor to the protection they deserve. Jesus Himself chose to assume this condition.
Welcoming a new life requires that fathers assume their responsibilities alongside mothers, that the family offers their support and that social conditions exist that allow both parents to raise and care for their children.
Protection of the unborn and the support of those who welcome them are inseparable. The family remains the primary setting in which each person is welcomed and learns to life with others.
St. John Paul II, who also had the joy to visit this land, expressed this in a phrase that retains all of its original force; “As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live.””

"Further, the Second Vatican Council’s Constitution on Sacred Liturgy, Sacrosanctum Concilium, states that “no other person, even if he be a priest, may add, remove, or change anything in the liturgy on his own authority.” (SC 22.3) Since the GIRM is very specific that the priest is instructed by the GIRM (152) to extend his hands when he prays the Lord’s Prayer, for the deacons or the laity to extend their hands would be adding to the liturgy. Therefore, the practice of the lay faithful extending their hands (or holding hands) during the Our Father should not be done."

JUST IN: Midterm numbers now showing statistically impossible swings in Texas and all over the country.
