my dudes, this is an easy one. they do not care. these are not banking billionaires - they're revenge of the nerds billionaires. they've hated people since middle school and they want to win the game they think we're all playing.
I cannot wrap my head around the endgame here. If you destroy the planet, crash the global economy, and leave ordinary people too broke to buy anything, what exactly are billionaires planning to do with all that money? Sit in underground bunkers staring at bank balances while the world falls apart? Wealth is only valuable when there's a functioning society around it. So what exactly are they trying to win?

He's talking about regular people, not the CIA.
Earnest take: I think it’s probably not healthy for the practice of democratic self-government that so many people have developed strong rooting interests in elections in countries they don’t live in.

AMERICAN WORKERS NOW GET THE SMALLEST SHARE OF WHAT THEY PRODUCE ON RECORD The BLS labor share index hit 93.4 in Q2 2026. It started at 116.0 in 1947. Now, the lowest ever. It has fallen five quarters in a row. Output keeps climbing. The workers' slice keeps shrinking.

🚨🚨New version of our student debt cancellation paper is out 🚨🚨 Using a nationally representative credit panel, we follow borrowers whose federal loans were canceled in 2021–2024 for up to four years. Cancellation raised homeownership, credit scores, and credit access. 1/20

I think the fact that Marissa Mayer would voluntarily disclose this to a reporter is a pretty good demonstration of how deeply the culture of Silicon Valley has diverged from the rest of humanity

Widespread voter suppression is reportedly being carried out by local government officials aligned with Flávio Bolsonaro. They're breaking the law by keeping public buses in the garages to prevent poor and working classes Brazilians from voting. This is very serious.
Lula tells reporters he has never before complained about elections he has been involved in, irrespective of whether he had won or lost. "But this time something abominable is happening."

BREAKING 🇧🇷 The voter suppression is Brazil is no joke!!!! This is an active, criminal conspiracy to keep poor, marginalized citizens out of polling stations across the country.
Brazil: The Regional Electoral Court of Bahia has issued an arrest warrant for Pablo Souza (Ind.), head of the Municipal Secretariat of Mobility in Salvador, following the limitation of bus service in the city during today’s elections. #Brazil

Even the FT admits Macron achieved virtually nothing in his 10 years as president, except increasing the retirement age - which of course from French people's standpoint is a negative.
I've been in France since 2002 and have never seen the streets so violent nor the politics so extreme. From the sacking of the supermarket on my street to the prospect of Présidente Le Pen, here's me @FT including thoughts from 2 French Nobel laureates as.ft.com/r/addcad57-0f9d-4e…

Lady with a straight face says that she wants to make capitalism work "without the exploitation of people" ??? I get that words don't mean anything anymore but come on lol
Is L.A. mayoral candidate Nithya Raman a capitalist? "I'm a capitalist and I'm also a Democratic Socialist...we need to make sure capitalism works without harm to workers... to poor people." She says the DSA is a "big tent" but she disagrees with members who call to abolish police, prisons and the Senate. Interview via @InsidePolitics on @CNN

American healthcare is the best. Call urgent care: “Do you do stitches for kids?” Them: “Yes.” Wait three hours with kid who needs stitches. Provider pokes head through door: “We don’t do that here. Go to the ER.” Two mins of their time tops. Bill arrives. They billed at a rate equivalent to paying someone $6.2 million a year.
