Care-coordinator encourages me to text if needed. Have sent three this week - all showing as delivered but not seen. Nothing urgent (just admin around bloods and OH report) but doesn’t exactly scream efficiency or dependability.

Thanks so much for helping us surpass our target for @samaritans with our #fingertips #musicvideo #fundraiser for #suicidepreventionmonth - every contribution will make a difference ❤️🎶

Medical educators must ensure that clinicians retain the ability to think critically. It’s essential that doctors learn to use AI tools effectively but also preserve the independent cognitive functions essential for patient safety and to deliver holistic person-centred care.

I hope this is about dramatically improving social care for everyone as a force for good in its own right. If it is limited to social care as something that exists to help the NHS (in terms of admissions avoidance and delayed discharge), that’ll be a big miss.

Dear @BBCNews . It’s been well over 24 hours and counting since I haven’t been giving a toss what Earl Spencer has to say. Could we all wake up tomorrow without this person not being in the headlines please. There is a lot else happening.

Being a medic is different. Not special, but the lens is not the same; the expectations are skewed.
"....sometimes the people who finally break are precisely those who have been extraordinarily resilient. They have worked harder. Stayed later. Covered the gap. Missed lunch. Taken on another patient. Helped another colleague. Absorbed another complaint. Ignored another headache. Cancelled another day off. And kept going. Until they couldn’t."

My OH, not often one fir discussing feelings and who lost his dad when he was 19, said last night something along the lines of grief isn’t something you do, or get over, it’s something you make peace with. Adjust to, live alongside. Wise.

Every 90 minutes, someone in the UK or Ireland dies by suicide.
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. Suicide is not inevitable. You can interrupt someone’s suicidal thoughts. You could save a life.
I've shared this video before; it's message remains as important and powerful as ever. You won't always know someone needs help so why not message that friend now and just check in?
Suicidal thoughts are more common than people may think. Please, if you’re struggling, tell someone. You will not be judged. Your background is irrelevant, you don’t have to ‘earn’ help and you don’t have to have ‘a reason’ why you feel how you do.
There is no shame - many will know someone who has had similar - or been that person themselves.
Suicide prevention can only happen if someone knows about it.
Call 111, @samaritans @theCALMzone Text SHOUT to 85258 or anyone you feel comfortable talking to. Download the StayAlive app by @GrassrootsSP
It can be hard to know what to say. “I’m not OK and need to talk to someone” is a good start; “I’m having thoughts of harming myself and don’t know what to do” is another. You don’t need to find the solution.
Without a shadow of a doubt, no matter who you are, the world is a better place with you in it. Sent with love to anyone having a hard time with their thoughts from someone who has been there more than once.

We aren’t involved in human trafficking. Our crews are tasked by the HM Coastguard to assist those in trouble in the water.

Well, we would be breaking international maritime and search and rescue laws if we *didn’t* rescue people in danger at sea, and bring them to a place of safety. If the humanitarian impulse to save all lives doesn’t convince you, there’s that.

It's a real shame our volunteer crews have lost your support, but they're not committing crimes. They are lifesavers. We’re tasked by the government (HM Coastguard) to assist those in trouble in the water. Anyone can drown, but no one should.

The facts behind our work in the Channel.
In 2024, our crews launched 114 times to Channel crossings – that's just 1.2% of our total launches.
Our core purpose is to save lives at sea. Anyone can drown, but no one should.
