Cape Town has 27+ litter interceptors, including seven added in 2025/26.
These systems catch waste before it travels through our rivers and canals towards the ocean. Almost 94 tonnes was intercepted in the Black River system during one four-month operation.

In some cases, when business owners shut down their operations because of extortion, the very same extortionists return with an offer to finance the reopening of those businesses. The criminals provide the capital, gain control of the business and reduce the original owner to an employee in what was once their own establishment.

DA ward candidate Yola Minnaar survived two petrol-bomb attacks on her home and a safehouse within 30 minutes of each other on Sunday night.
