A common comparison for Ethereum is that of a tech stock
If that is the case then the best proxy would be Intel. At one time, one of the hottest things in the world with unbounded growth expectations
A few bubbles later in its lifetime, but generally the first big one was the peak as it becomes more apparent that growth is bounded, innovation slowing, and competitors are taking market share. This results in lower projected growth affecting the multiples that investors are willing to pay
Tell me how you pitch 200x PS, negative revenue growth and negative profitability to investors at a $420B price. Crypto retards will buy into this but its a pipe dream to believe that tradfi will buy into it in size given current fundamentals

Lol I thought airdrops would save us from the toxic work culture, but looking at the recent ones, it feels like nothing's changed, lol.
In a mid-tier job, you get your paycheck at the end of the month while your boss hurls slurs at you daily.
It's no different from grinding for airdrops, only to be called an e-beggar after wasting all that energy and time clicking buttons and paying fees.
Sure, you can try to maximize your gains with multiple wallets, but isn’t that just like working multiple jobs?
Back in the day, airdrops were different. You’d get rewards unknowingly, like buying an ENS domain because it was cool and handy, then getting the $ENS airdrop for holding it.
Same with $UNI Airdrop for just 1 swap or and DeFi activity on uniswap
Nowadays, the airdrop scene feels more like a beta tester job: less fun, more hectic, and more PvP-like, fighting for a spot on a random leaderboard with forced LPs and locks.
In the end, they’ll still call us "e-beggars" and say "we’re giving you free money," take it or leave it.
lmao did you see what poker pro stinky pengu Bryan said today ?

Arbitrum: 11% allocated to over 600,000 users. Their RFP was a completely separate allocation.
Optimism: 14% allocated for airdrops. So far, they have conducted four rounds of airdrops. The first one was 5%, but only 250,000 individuals were eligible.
Zksync: Although I shouldn't be discussing this, they failed in terms of criteria but not allocation. They stayed true to their promises. They allocated a whopping 17.5% to the community, which many expected LayerZero to do because both projects acquired a large number of durable users simultaneously. They were the two most talked-about projects in web3 for a long time.
Wormhole: 6.17%, all unlocked. RFP is not included. Around 400,000 users were eligible.
There are many more examples we could discuss.
Allocating just 5% to core users is the lowest so far, especially for a project that has generated significant revenue and received substantial funding. There's no excuse for this unless the VCs, who own the project, have made a permanent decision.
I'm not trying to FUD at all. I'm just stating nothing but pure facts.

With the ZK claim opening in less than 12 hours, now is the time to finalize your post-airdrop strategy. High volatility is expected, bringing with it emotional turmoil and the risk of bad decisions. Don't let feelings jeopardize years' worth of work. Have a plan and stick to it.

The Matter Labs ZK Pledge
We are grateful to @VitalikButerin, @ilblackdragon, @hasufl, @MicahZoltu, @stonecoldpat0, @StaniKulechov, @lex_node, @hosseeb, @pcaversaccio, and others for their comments and suggestions on how to ensure critical terms like “ZK” remain freely available to everyone and protected against squatters.
Here is a community proposal we fully support:
1. Setting up an ownerless legal entity with the sole purpose of holding trademarks for “ZK” and similar, critical names. This effort must be led by a trusted, credibly neutral organization or community members.
2. The entity grants free licenses of the trademarks to everyone.
3. Many prominent community figures and credibly neutral organizations are invited to join as guarantors.
The Matter Labs Pledge:
1. Matter Labs will not file any new trademark applications for ZK. Matter Labs will not appeal any applications if they are rejected. Matter Labs will never enforce any of the ZK trademarks it owns now or in the future except for defensive purposes (i.e. preventing others from suing us).
2. We commit to financially support the creation of a community-led, TM-holder entity.
3. Matter Labs will immediately transfer to this entity all the filed ZK trademarks.
We are asking for your help to create this new model and to put together the most effective structure for all. Everyone in the Ethereum and ZK communities is invited to join and contribute to this effort. You can reach us at [email protected]

looking at the current group who stands against @zksync, we see some similarities
@PolyhedraZK @LineaBuild @Starknet
all three have this in common;
1) exploited community to pump their metrics
2) raised a shitload of money
3) gave or will give zero value to their communities
idk but to me, fucking your community is just as worse as an ip grab so these teams have absolutely zero right to speak about ethos
just remember, we essentially pay your salary

Matter Labs is a zealous proponent of the libertarian, cypherpunk ethos and the values stated in the ZK Credo. We reject the very idea of “Intellectual Property”. Everything we create is released to the public under free open source licenses.
Trademarks, however, exist to protect users, not companies. All the trademarks we had ever registered, including ZK-related ones, are defensive, to prevent dishonest actors from misleading their customers and confusing their products and services with the ones offered by Matter Labs (as had unfortunately been the case in the past).
But ZK is the endgame, so we went one step further. We had earlier reached out to the legal team of the Ethereum Foundation and offered to cooperate on creating a legal framework to make the use of “ZK” and similar important tech terms in the public domain.
We invite others to participate in this initiative – in particular, those who filed trademarks related to STARKs.
ZK is a public good that should belong to everyone.
Matter Labs, the corporate entity behind @zksync, has filed trademark applications in nine countries, claiming ZK as its exclusive intellectual property, even though they neither created nor contributed to the creation of this technology.
By using the legal system to claim a public good for itself, Matter Labs contradicts the ethos of crypto, Ethereum, and its own principles, which state: "We can make this world better by increasing people's freedom."
StarkWare, alongside other leading ZK companies and researchers, urges the community to demand that Matter Labs withdraw all their trademark attempts.

Watch the max @layerzero_labs criteria with the largest token allocation be something that's ridiculously easy to hit, as long as you have a lot of funds, e.g.:
- Bridged over $1.5M
- Cumulatively Bridged over $2M on 3 dApps (Stargate, Woo, Aptos)
- Amount of $STG used for voting on 1 proposal
(can just use massive size and lock it for 2 weeks)
- Owns a Pudgy Penguin ($35,300 floor)
- Provided a ton of liq pre-snapshot, but not time-weighted (so it's easy to game)
Why?
VCs and Insiders have a lot of $$$, but not a lot of time to diligently use all features of a project.
So they would rather max qualify by letting their money do all the work, hence the criteria will be tailored towards them so they can double dip.
Last cycle (2021), VCs and projects would dump on users through low float / high FDV scams (Serum, Metaverse coins etc)
This cycle, VCs and projects dump on users by:
1) Create initial raise to get eyes on your project.
2) Hint at a token by mentioning it in docs.
3) Farmers come in, boost your metrics.
4) You now publicly boast about metrics, specifically about your TOTAL MESSAGE COUNT (so every tx counts).
5) You now present sky-high metrics to VCs, raise another massive around ($120M+).
6) Continue tweeting about raise, tx milestones, and new chain integrations frequently, instill FOMO
7) Fatigue kicks in, Metrics take a dip, time for the next trick up your sleeve: Publicly CONFIRM a token will happen by end of H1, and that a snapshot will be communicated in advance.
8) Metrics go ballistic again, as it confirms there are still 4-5 months to 'farm'. Bonus: Call your project permissionless, immutable, censor-ship resistant
9) TGE dawns near. Make farmers self-report and give them a bonus for every farmer they can find. Have double standards on the dApps that will be filtered, specifically call it a 'Sybil-dApp' now, but don't call it a Sybil-dApp pre-snapshot, because it rakes in an absurd amount of txs, and therefore rev + metrics for you. Reclassify the meaning of sybil (1 wallet = sybil) so it fits your agenda
10) TGE is here. You filtered 70% of your userbase and airdrop 5% of your supply, with the majority of it going to VCs/Insiders as the criteria will be tailored towards them.
11) VCs and Insiders now get to dump on Day-1, as well as upon unlock dates.
12) Maybe introduce a second season, so metrics improve again and gullible investors buy into your token based on inflated numbers/rev (your exit liquidity).
The whole operation has been sponsored by farmers, but they'll end up getting disqualified and experience 'death by a thousand cuts' through fees they paid for nothing in return → new way of dumping on them.
Farmers = Users. Nobody voluntarily uses Stargate if there are equivalent solutions that are also cheaper (Across, Hyperlane).
'Users first', but you allocate 5% of the supply to Airdrop
Thanks for playing

I strongly disagree with the notion that Airdrops are "free money" and that we should be grateful for whatever we receive.
Here's why ↓
→ We invest our hard-earned money in these projects, which exposes it to potential risks from exploits, loss in value, etc.
→ Our involvement impacts project valuation. I've reviewed numerous seed decks, and each one emphasizes "traction." Traction is tied to community size (number of followers, Discord members, etc.) along with onchain data metrics (TVL, unique addresses, etc.). That is us!!
When it comes time to Airdrop:
Using the "Sybil" excuse, lacking transparency, or offering minimal rewards to the community reflects poorly on projects. Projects understand the nature of Airdrops, and if they are not prepared to handle them ethically, then, in my view, they are taking advantage of their community - and it's a slow rug.

The end of H1 2024 is rapidly approaching, which means the timeline for TGE is drawing closer. Note that applications should ensure to register contract information on LayerZero Scan. Expect to see continuous updates over the coming months.
