With no limit on spending, due to previous and current gov't lack of oversight, all resources will go to that as it did with the North Bank redesign after tension crack issues. @BCRatePayers in a bad place as @bchydro cave$ in to poor project management and political pressure.

What is "Jurassic Jello"? This kind of unstable ground on which BC Hydro thinks it can safely build a dam on the Peace River at #SiteC: youtu.be/JAp4_DYchxs #bcpoli

Is it any coincidence that the #SiteC Dam fits nicely with the #NAWAPA plan to divert BC rivers to provide water for California & the American SW? Do we destroy our own ability to feed ourselves and our independence? Scary times.

.@jjhorgan You have the perfect out! We need the peace for food security, not for flooding #SiteC - There are alternatives watershedsentinel.ca/article…

Hard to say if this is identical to what's hundreds of feet down but engineers who know the area says this stuff goes extremely deep & as you can see in Bill's thread, the #SiteC spox says the dam is being built "on shales." This is what happens when politicians override experts.

Not hard to see why this originally $6 billion dollar dam is now $11 bn & climbing. Everything is more expensive because it's on this unstable ancient ash. Also, every time they dig through it it releases silica dust, & Worksafe BC has fined them $$$ for exposing workers. #SiteC

More expen$ive underwater debris to be left behind. #sitec sunk cost category.

That methylmercury-filled reservoir for #SiteC will back up the Moberly River, poisoning its fish. And any debris trapped there will rot underwater, its anaerobic decomposition releasing masses of methane. But this is a good news story? #bcpoli

So your tweet is correct, tho #SiteC doesn't so much subsidize as greenwash LNG, & worse, most of that greenwashing is fake. BC govt makes noise about "electrifying" fracking but it's not industry-wide (& we had enough electricity to do it without Site C) nationalobserver.com/2019/09…

Maybe now we can get to see Quarterly Progress Report 18 for the #sitec dam. It is more than apparent to anyone watching that the overruns there won't be flattering to Gov't or @bchydro and there should be no reason for it not to be out already.

If voters had to pay for the #sitec dam now rather than having to wait for the $12B and counting debt to hit the books @bchydro a whole lot more of them would change their votes. Diversion deadline miss will add considerably to costs. Bond raters won't look kindly on added debt.

Stop #SiteC is what @GreenpeaceCA @amnesty @DavidSuzukiFDN @wendyholm @Harold_Steves @treaty8 all say. Problem is, @BCNDPCaucus are owned by @SNCLavalin & other multinationals. Wonder why @BCGreens did not insist upon no Site C as part of their pact with @bcndp if they cared? Ha
