I remember thinking Daniel Boone was a folktale like Paul Bunion until I was older than I care to admit. Knowing how I reacted to the book, My Side of the Mountain, I would have been enthralled had I heard the stories of the great pioneers and explorers. Sadly, the schools don't teach it so it's up to us adults to pass in the stories of the men and women who inspire.
