Replying to @Acyn
it's telling that throughout @JessicaTarlov speech there, NONE of the idiots on the rest of the panel butted in or cut her off like they usually do, they just sat there and took it, because they know everything she's saying is 100% true.

THE EDMONTON ELKS HAVE UNLOCKED THE ENTIRE UPPER EAST DECK!!! For the first time on a long time, the Elks have an entire side of the Upper Deck open for fans to enjoy. This IS the biggest CFL game of the year and we need the City in the building! Be the Home Field Advantage! – at Edmonton, Alberta

Reimburse and resign. Period. NALLY was the MLA who illegally accessed a voter’s private data when that constituent filed a recall against him. Enough. @UCPCaucus

Between the gerrymandering & the coordinated attacks on Nenshi, it’s clear the UCP are shaken.
ABns see the arrogance of the UCP, the attacks on democracy, public Ed. & HC, the corruption scandals, the lies, & lack of accountability.
#FireTheUCP & let’s expose it all. #Ableg

7000 more votes in urban constituencies than rural!
But each constituency only gets one seat.
Brought to you by the government that just held a referendum predicated on insufficient representation in the senate…

For my own riding of Edmonton-Riverview, our riding has been absorbed into the four surrounding ridings. Basically, it’s been eliminated.
On average Edmonton ridings have 7000 more voters than rural ridings. This means that urban voters are being robbed of their voice. The UCP-gerrymandered boundaries are intended to weaken votes cast in Edmonton.

Dale Nally was able to soak up the Kentucky whiskey but poor guy was 'too busy' to face the media, SO
@ABDanielleSmith sent the UCP bully, @ABJasonNixon out to discredit the NDP & offer a cover story for his co-worker. Can it get any more juvenile??

Let’s look at the similarities between what’s happening south of the border and here in Alberta to see if we can connect the dots.
Rising costs of living. Deteriorating healthcare.
Government corruption and questionable spending. Scapegoating immigrants and minority groups. Attacks on democratic institutions. Gerrymandering electoral boundaries. Undermining the rule of law. Political division, manufactured crises and endless distractions. Pushing AI data centres without addressing community concerns.
That sounds familiar.
The recent U.S. midterms give us good reason to see where UCP policies are heading.
Government should be focused on serving people, not creating enemies, picking fights and protecting its own political interests.
Public office is a privilege, not an entitlement.

"The UCP has destroyed faith in a riding boundary system that was trusted for decades.
It started in the spring, when the UCP seized control from an independent electoral boundaries commission.
It was a political takeover of an independent body, and a brutal break from tradition."

Never forget this, Alberta. Premier Smith has never been on Team Alberta or Team Canada — don’t let her gaslight you into believing otherwise.
It has always been about the lobbyists: oil, coal, developers, private healthcare, private education, insurance companies, and Christian nationalist churches. This government does not care about you or your neighbours, whether you live in urban or rural Alberta.
The same politics just got their asses handed to them in the United States. Alberta can do the same in 2027.

Banning flags, banning books, politicizing post-secondary, using not-withstanding to crush rights, waste and corruption, a pointless and divisive referendum, scapegoating vulnerable communities, pushing MAGA nonsense on Albertans, and now openly gerrymandering.
Never forget.

We must all recognize a hard truth: a ruling party gerrymandering electoral boundaries for political advantage is a direct threat to democracy. Rushing legislation without debate to force this through is not normal. Never forget what the UCP has done to Alberta.
Brian Halpin retweeted
This is a huge deal and extremely fucked.
Gerrymandering comes to Canada, and like most regressive U.S. political imports, does so through Alberta’s right wing.

Governments don't generally impose time limits on motions they are confident in defending. So for the UCP to have just 1 hour of debate on their new electoral map, it's an indication this whole thing is exactly what we think it is — cheating. #ableg

It’s wild that the UCP is so scared of the Alberta NDP that they have to try and cheat to this degree. Lethbridge is a neat, two-seat city - not some Frankenstein rural/urban pawn to be disfigured to help Danielle Smith hold onto power at the expensive of Lethbridgians. #ableg

It IS cheating and it’s not just the NDP saying it.
Rural Alberta is already overrepresented in the legislature and cities are tired of being held hostage. Edmonton hasn’t had a new hospital in 38 years because of Conservative governments while population has doubled.
Premier Danielle Smith is defending a proposal to redraw provincial boundaries in a way the Opposition NDP says is cheating.
