this is @BloodReaver testing the monerochan wallet on @stashernews here is the whole video youtube.com/watch?v=-xN-RzpO… this could be turned into a one click operation by adding a monerochan001 link to the "tip it" button more info in the quoted tweet xitter.cf/spirobel/status/211256…
something i dont like about uri schemes with a custom protocol: most platforms will not recognize them as links. users have to manually select them and copy them into their wallet app another issue is the primitivism of these standards. they define mostly simple information transfer that doesn't offer much beyond just copying the damn address the user does a manual execution of something his wallet could do for him: did i copy the right address? is it the right domain? is the address valid? i make it part of the standard to verify the address is correct with the server (which can be a simple static json file of valid addresses or a dynamic json response in case of a webshop) more info: monerochan.cash webstore link: chromewebstore.google.com/de…

if steve jobs saw you reserving 15% screen width for a single icon and then putting a left side arrow back button on the unreachable right side of the screen he would've personally taken you behind a dumpster and beat you with a metal pipe

6 million+ prime-age American men are neither working nor looking for work. Bruno Manno argues it's less about jobs than hope: many men have lost the sense that effort leads anywhere. aibm.org/commentary/why-cant…

Excellent essay. It's not what you know, it's who you know.
The elites of Victorian Britain got up late, drank ceaselessly, worked short hours, partied through the night, and knew nothing about science, technology or engineering. And yet, by their own lights, they were hugely effective. worksinprogress.co/issue/the… The Victorians are often held up as a model against the supposedly soft, feckless, humanities-educated elites of today. But I argue that the genius of their system may have been its drastic weighting towards soft skills, team-building and intra-elite networking: - A Victorian’s gentleman’s office hours typically began about 11am and finished about 5pm, including a multi-course lunch with wine. - Upper-class Victorians drank ceaselessly. Conduct guides recommended four or five glasses of wine at dinner *for married women*. Port was often served in pints. - Party culture was intense and nocturnal. Balls started at about 10pm, peaked after 1am, and continued till dawn. During the social season, bankers, judges and politicians might go to several balls per week. - Elite Victorians learnt almost no STEM at school or university. At least half of class time was given over to ancient languages, often as much as 80 percent. One leading educationalist remarked that it was not worth teaching science to gentlemen because it does not involve ‘continued reasoning’. - Sports and character formation were valued far above transmitting facts. A top headmaster described his school’s priorities as ‘First – character, second – physique, third – intelligence, fourth – manners, fifth – information’. This cannot have made elite Victorians more productive individually, but maybe the dense social and emotional network it created helped them to work as a sort of extended team. Perhaps we should think again about what makes groups of people effective.

"closure of the Internet occurred in two distinct phases: 2015-2019 and 2020-2022. Almost all of the technical & organizational infrastructure and conceptual justifications were built out in the first phase, which successfully decapitated & destroyed the previously-independent, but by definition fringe, online ecosystem of ideas. In the second phase, the same weapons that previously targeted heterodox online discourse were turned against opposition to the COVID measures du joure & mainstream conservatives. The scale of censorship has no precedent; tens of millions of accounts suppressed or banned, billions of posts removed." arctotherium.substack.com/p/…

This series has spent 500,000 tokens to earn 5 likes but that won't stop me. This is the Battle of Cannae. The famous Jon Snow encirclement scene is based on this battle.
Coins are up. Sun is shining. LLMs can render faithful reenactments of the Battle of Aquae Sextiae. Have a wonderful weekend.
