I gently suggest that Ireland should first sort out its own descent into unpleasant antisemitism before it starts telling others how to build a respectful civic society.
I congratulate The Student List for its victory in the Serbian election, following a record turnout. As Presidency of the EU, Ireland stands ready to support Serbia in its efforts to strengthen institutions, the rule of law and democracy.

‘Weak leadership combined with ideological capture, perceived prestige for the organisation, and fear had all led to children being harmed.’ Gender ideology has spread like wildfire through the NHS. The casualties: kids and whistleblowers. Free to read. thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/a…

A reward for his efforts in helping to bring down former Prime Ministers. He really isn’t a man they want to spill the beans given what he knows. Passionate about the council of Europe - an ardent Remainer who would never vote to leave the ECHR like many of those being selected for Tory seats. His choice of companions at events in a world of social media is both brave and fascinating. It’s not Kemi who runs the Conservative Party. I’m amazed there are still people who think she Rishi, Boris et al ever did.
Another interesting "direction of travel" decision here. Kemi's "New" Conservative Party has re-selected REMAINER Roger Gale as a parliamentary candidate. Gale is 83, and recently REFUSED to vote for ECHR withdrawal, and in fact called the idea of leaving "a grave mistake." He was previously suspended from parliament for attempted to influence judges to protect a sexual assault convict, his friend and former MP Charlie Elphicke. Tell us, @KemiBadenoch, Is this really a NEW Conservative Party? Or is it the SAME OLD TORIES?

This line, which Baroness Winterton of Doncaster has used in the Lords today, is simply a lie. I feel sorry for Labour junior ministers, who are being sent out to repeat pre-written lines they do not understand, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a lie.

What's gone wrong with Britain's economy? Too much state spending. Markets strangled by regulation. And the erosion of a shared national purpose. @DavidGHFrost tells @marcsidwell why Britain needs a radical change of direction. Watch 👇

The decision not to vet the National Security Advisor, Jonathan Powell, was a deliberate one. The reason behind that decision could only be that the person who took it did not believe he would pass it and did not care. Which means that Jonathan Powell was deliberately put in post by someone at the very highest level to deliver something that could not or would not be delivered by someone else who was properly vetted. Keir Starmer personally appointed Jonathan Powell as the UK’s National Security Adviser on 8 November 2024. Keir Starmer, it should be remembered, also appointed Peter Mandelson to the post of UK ambassador to the United States before vetting was even completed, and then confirmed him in post, ignoring the vetting agency's recommendation. Both Powell and Mandelson are/were advocates of an ever deeper relationship between the UK and China. Powell being a significant advocate for the surrender of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius, a development that could only strengthen China’s position in a contested region of the world. I’ve said for a long time that I believe Starmer has been compromised and this revelation that Starmer personally appointed Powell to such a critical post without vetting shows that Starmer ‘s actions were at the very least highly irregular, extremely questionable and certainly undermining of UK national security. Consider every action of Starmer as PM and the conclusion becomes self evident.

In the Tavistock study, children on puberty blockers went on to cross-sex hormones at a rate of 98%. Suggesting we know what will happen to the little kids on the Puberty Blockers Trial. Sterilisation, stunted growth, life-long medicalisation. #StopTheTrial @baronesscash

🌹 This Labour government is borrowing £400 million EVERY DAY. The latest ONS figures show £330.2 BILLION of public sector borrowing since July 2024. That works out at roughly: 💰 £4,650 every second 💰 £278,980 every minute 💰 £16.7m every hour 💰 £401.7m every day And that’s on top of roughly £70 BILLION in tax rises since coming to power… …and they are planning further tax rises! This simply isn’t sustainable.

🚨 Imagine borrowing £100 at 5% interest… and then investing in something paying you just 1%. You lose £4. Sounds insane, doesn’t it? Yet that’s effectively what Britain is doing with BILLIONS of pounds. Read what else I found in the Treasury’s audit here: leenallalingham.substack.com…

I predicted the Chancellor's Budget would try to use loopholes in his fiscal rules to spend even more taxpayers money. We are walking along a fiscal cliff edge. Sooner or later a Chancellor has to get a grip on the public finances. Doesn't sound like it's going to be this one. 🧵(see below)

BREAKING Chagossians could be handed a veto to stop the islands being handed to Mauritius under a Bill passed by peers this lunchtime. The British Sovereignty Protection (Chagos Islands) Bill - which cleared the second reading stage in the House of Lords today - would give Chagossians a veto over any deal. The new law would mean that sovereignty transfers require a referendum of Chagossians and approval by the islands' own government. The Bill will now go forward to the committee stage when it would need Government support to continue. It potentially gives a way-out for Andy Burnham if he wants to drop the deal which has been attacked by US President Donald Trump. The Chagossian diaspora is thought to be overwhelmingly against the deal. Four Chagossoians settled on the archaepelago earlier this year to protest at the Government's plans to hand sovereignty to Mauritius. Speaking before the vote, a Foreign Office spokesman told @GBNEWS: “Securing the long-term operation of Diego Garcia remains a top priority for the Government, and protecting the base is the very reason for the agreement with Mauritius. “We will continue to work with the US and Mauritius to find a way forward that is in the UK's best interests and protects our national security.” More: gbnews.com/politics/chagos-i…

This is one of the most illiberal, invasive and appalling pieces of legislation ever to come before Parliament. The Conversion Practices Bill isn’t about preventing gay children from being abusively coerced into being straight. That is already rightly illegal. It will criminalise well-intentioned conversations between parents and gender-confused children, discussions with therapists, and religious leaders sharing their faith’s teachings with their congregations. A parent could face up to five years in prison simply for trying to dissuade their child from embarking on irreversible, dangerous and life-changing medical pathways before the age of 18. In his letter to the pre-legislative scrutiny committee, the Minister for Equalities attempts to reassure us that the bill respects “freedom of religion and parental rights”. It does no such thing. So much for the Labour Government’s promise to tread more lightly on our lives. It is not the state’s role to dictate what conversations parents can have with their young children around the dinner table. Parents know best — not ministers. Read the letter below 👇

Eyes shut. Mouth open. Earbuds in. Good evening, Stella. Sixteen years as the MP for Walthamstow. Sixteen years, and nobody has made you a minister. In that time you have fought for tampons, for childcare, for proxy voting, for Paddington Bear. And in July you alerted the nation to a lost parrot in Lloyd Park. It was a parakeet. You said it was "too big to be a parakeet". Meanwhile Walthamstow has a crime rate 70 per cent above the national average. Homelessness double it. Rents through the roof. And where is your fire? On the right of the world to move here. Fine. Here is the arithmetic. 140,122 handed the right to remain or a passport in the three months to June. One a minute. 76,535 over in small boats since Labour took office. Your job is Walthamstow, Stella. Not Calais. And not the parakeet.

Unserious. Lacking gravitas and frivolous.
This is something you would expect a former PM with spare time on their hands to do, not the sitting PM. Such an unserious man.
