Healey Promised Breathing Space. The IFS Says He Delivered A Lost Decade
John Healey's Budget came with a slogan, "breathing space now, fresh hope for the future." Judge it by the Chancellor's own measures. The IFS calculates that the package saves the average family £140 by next July. Over the same period, energy and fuel costs are expected to rise by £400. Subtract one from the other and £260 still lands on the household budget. Relief that covers a third of the bill is a discount on the damage.
The slogan promised hope. The projection delivers a lost decade. Disposable income for the typical family will grow by about 2 per cent across the 2020s, the weakest of any decade since comparable records began in the 1950s. By 2029, families will have barely more spending power than in 2019. Helen Miller, the IFS director, says no temporary cost of living package can fix that, and the Budget offered nothing else. A VAT cut on electricity and £100 for council tax bands A to D were never going to bend a trend line a decade long.
Then there is the headroom. Healey told the Commons he had left £15bn of room against his fiscal rules in 2029/30. The same IFS review identifies a £28bn hole in his spending plans, which would require deep cuts to some departments, cuts Miller doubts this government will make. A margin of safety that depends on reductions nobody expects to be delivered is not a margin. Britain has heard this arithmetic before, from his predecessor, and it did not survive contact with the forecasts. The £14bn rise in debt interest this year shows how quickly it can move.
Kemi Badenoch had the measure of it in the chamber, dismissing the package as "4p off gherkins." Businesses were less theatrical and no more generous. Lord Cruddas of CMC Markets called the Budget "pretty useless" against rising bond yields. The Resolution Foundation, hardly a Conservative outpost, found it small beside the scale of the challenge. None of them described a Chancellor confronting the country's central problem, which is an economy that does not grow fast enough to pay for what the state promises.
That failure belongs to Andy Burnham as much as to his Chancellor. He took office pledging to ease the squeeze on family finances. His first Budget leaves families facing a lost decade, pushes the hard choices beyond the next election, and bets the public finances on forecasts improving in time. Gilt investors, who have watched this approach before, will price the bet accordingly.
Two questions need answering from Downing Street. Which departments will absorb the £28bn of cuts the plans imply, and will the Prime Minister name them before the next election? And if a family is still £260 worse off this winter after the Budget's help, what was the breathing space for?
Andy Burnham and John Healey. One promised economic renewal, the other promised breathing space. Britain's families are still waiting for either.

Following today’s announcement of new legal refugee routes, I’ve never been more convinced that a large number of people ‘working’ in the Home Office need to go to prison.

Angela Rayner is to appoint an “Islamophobia” adviser.
They'll enforce her “Islamophobia” definition, which Labour allowed extremists to influence.
Ministers claimed the evidence was deleted, but I proved this was a lie.
It's still kept secret. Rayner must end the cover up.

A Restore Britain Government will deport every man, woman and child who arrives under this scheme.
It will be applied retrospectively.

There were five slave trades. You were taught about only one. 🏴🇬🇧
One. The Atlantic. Twelve million Africans shipped to the Americas. Britain banned it in 1807, then hunted it for sixty years.
Two. The Barbary trade. A million Europeans taken to North Africa. Britain bombarded Algiers in 1816.
Three. The Saharan trade. A thousand years of caravans north across the desert. Britain had its northern end banned. Tripoli, 1857.
Four. The East African trade. Twenty thousand people a year through one customs house. Britain forced the market shut. 5 June 1873.
Five. The Ottoman trade. Raiders sold Eastern Europeans south for three hundred years. Britain made the Sultan ban it in 1854.
It cost sixty years and two thousand sailors. Nobody else fought all five. 🙏🇬🇧
It isn't over. Mauritania only made it a crime in 2007. Fifty million people are in slavery today.
Someone has to remember who started the fight. ⚓🇬🇧💪

According to Home Office documents, Labour's new legal refugee routes are 'initially' from the following countries...
Bangladesh
India
Pakistan
Malaysia
Egypt
Uganda
Kenya
Initially, being the key word.
A Restore Britain Government will reach back and deport every single man, woman and child imported into our home from these schemes - regardless of which status they may hold at that stage.
If the law prevents that from happening, Restore Britain MPs will CHANGE THE LAW.
We will remove them all, we will deport them all.
The British people have had enough.

🚨 Shocking statements from Dr. Chris Shoemaker:
"The chromosomal pattern of people who were 'vaccinated' against COVID-19 has been genetically and permanently altered.
One-third of the weight of each injection they received consisted of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which is capable of penetrating the cell nucleus.
Unfortunately, it has been discovered that the chromosomal pattern of liver cells and many other tissue cells in patients—both living and deceased—has been permanently altered. Their sperm cells, ovarian cells, spleen cells, and immune cells in the bone marrow have all been permanently changed, and now contain non-human genetic material, which certainly does not represent their humanity"...👇
"The scientists who created this were aware of it. Something as malicious as this, capable of affecting this vast number of cells in these multiple ways, could not have been invented unless it was deliberately produced in a malicious manner. This is the second reason for presenting my arguments, supported by scientific evidence...

To any minister claiming the country is united behind more funding for Ukraine: kindly deduct me from the headcount.
A roomful of MPs nodding at one another is not a national opinion poll. You cannot volunteer my agreement simply because you’ve already volunteered my taxes.
My position is straightforward: no more British taxpayer money for Ukraine. I want that spending directed towards British people.
The existing military commitment alone is £3 billion a year.
Yet ask for meaningful improvements at home and we’re invited to appreciate the complexity of public finances. Difficult choices. Limited resources. Competing priorities.
I understand competing priorities perfectly. I’m telling you which country I think should come first.
Britain.
I want accessible healthcare, decent roads, affordable energy, proper support for our veterans and public services that justify what we pay for them.
Perhaps British patients could hold an international summit. Apparently a waiting room needs flags and a joint communiqué before anyone becomes terribly decisive.
And could we have some of that “for as long as it takes” determination applied to fixing this country?
The people paying for these commitments deserve more than a lecture about why their objections are inconvenient.
Ministers are entitled to argue for continued funding. They should explain the costs, defend the priorities and acknowledge that people disagree.
What they should stop doing is announcing national agreement from the comfort of a chamber whose members have already agreed with themselves.
You may have Westminster’s applause.
You do not have mine.
Yours, suggesting the British government develop an interest in Britain,
A Gentleman from the Old School. 🎩

Worksop East, Bassetlaw. Beechwood & Heath, Halton. St. James's, Dudley. Mid Argyll, Scotland. If you live in these four wards, you can vote for Restore Britain today. We've put up local candidates, four brave men and women who are fighting for their communities - I have huge respect for that.
It's easy to sit and moan on social media, it's much harder to get out on the streets and actually do something about it. They've done it, trying to improve their local area and support Restore Britain nationally. Whatever happens, I want to thank our candidates for their efforts.
So please back Ash, George, Tristian and Anne today through voting Restore Britain. Encourage friends/family to do the same.
Every vote matters to our progress.

Defund the BBC. It is infested with leftwaffe wokery
🚨NEWS: BBC schools website takes down Leftist views on extreme migration and Net Zero
The BBC has removed material from Bitesize, used by 1.7 million pupils a week, after it was found to reward children for choosing open borders and an amnesty for illegal migrants.
Content also suggested concern about migrants taking local jobs is prejudice and encouraged pupils to join Amnesty International.
Pages hailing Greta Thunberg were also taken down.
Senior bosses ordered a review after major concern.
What should happen to the BBC?
Eat meat.
Net zero is a cult for cunts. Killing animals and our meat intake to support it is absolutely 100% Psyop psycho cunts trying to control and shorten your life.
The year is 1087. The king's forester rides up to the door. The deer in the wood are the king's now, and a man caught with venison in his pot is blinded for it. Your father ate deer. You will eat oats.
The year is 1217. The king's men come every third year with a block, a chisel and a mallet. Your dog's forefoot goes on the block and three claws come off at one blow, so he can never again run down a stag. The fine for a dog with his feet intact is three shillings, a month of your labour. The law never says you may not eat meat. It only takes the dog's toes.
The year is 1400. The priest comes every spring. For 40 days there is no meat, no butter, no milk, no eggs, and with the year's other fasts the Church takes about 150 days of flesh off your table. It is for your soul. The bishop keeps his capons.
The year is 1649. You put your cow on the common, because the grass grows for nobody. The gentlemen ride up the hill with clubs and beat her until she is not expected to live. A poor man with a cow does not need a landlord. That was the offence.
The year is 1666. Parliament declares Irish cattle a common nuisance and bars them from England. The herds that fed an island for 2,000 years go for salt beef, and the island goes onto the potato. In 1847 the ships still leave Cork with butter and bacon under armed guard, past the people dying on the quay.
The year is 1915. The professors come with a calculation. The pig eats food fit for people, so the pig must go. Millions are slaughtered in a season. Then there is no pork, no lard, no manure for the fields, and around 750,000 civilians starve in the winter remembered by the turnip.
The year is 1940. The man at the door has a ration book. Meat is bought by the shilling, and it stays rationed until 1954, nine years after the war ends. It is for the nation. The restaurants of Mayfair were never on the book.
The year is 1961. A professor is on the cover of Time. The doctor tells you the fat on your meat is clogging your arteries, and the butter must go for the oil. The study has 6 countries in it. 22 were available.
The year is 1977. A Senate committee issues the country with a diet, the first government on earth to do it. Less meat and fat, more grain. The obesity line, flat for 50 years, turns upward within the decade.
The year is 1992. A pyramid arrives in every classroom, 6 to 11 servings of bread at the base and the meat squeezed up near the point. The woman who drew the first draft had put the grain at 2 to 4. The Secretary's office changed it.
The year is 2015. The World Health Organization puts your bacon in the same cancer category as tobacco. The spinach carries 100 times the nitrate and no label.
The year is 2019. A commission funded by a billionaire publishes a diet for the planet. Red meat: 14 grams a day. Half a rasher. The members fly in to announce it.
The year is 2026. The man at the door carries no chisel, no ration book, no map. He carries a carbon target. The cattle on the hill are to be culled for the climate, the farm taxed on death until it sells, and you are asked to give up meat for the good of everyone, by people who have never gone a week without it.
The deer were the king's. The cow was the lord's. The fast was God's. The fat was the heart's. The planet is the latest owner of your dinner.
A thousand years, and the reason has changed every century. The plate never has.
Nobody has ever banned meat for the common man. They just come to the door every generation with a very good reason, and take three claws at a time.
Fuck you @TheAtlantic
Cunts.
No forgiveness for utter cunts.
Adam Carolla tells The Atlantic to “F*CK OFF” and “EAT SH*T” for demanding you forgive the people who tried to destroy your life over a COVID shot.
He shows their previous headlines on the screen, and it’s not pretty.
CAROLLA: “Of course all the people who wanted everyone drawn and quartered for not getting vaccinated or wearing a mask want a f*cking amnesty.”
“Suck my dick, f*ck off, Atlantic, and eat sh*t, because you guys all deserve whatever the f*ck you’re getting.”
“BUT THE MAIN THING YOU’RE GETTING IS NO ONE’S GOING TO LISTEN TO YOU EVER AGAIN.”
THE ATLANTIC THEN:
“The Anti-Vaccine Right Brought Human Sacrifice to America”
“Unvaccinated People Need to Bear the Burden”
“Vaccine Refusers Don’t Get to Dictate Terms Anymore”
“Some Americans No Longer Believe in the Common Good”
THE ATLANTIC, YEARS LATER:
“Let’s Declare a Pandemic Amnesty”
“We need to forgive one another for what we did and said when we were in the dark about COVID.”
First of all, forgiveness comes AFTER you apologize.
Your headline should be “We’re sorry. We acted like monsters.” Not “we were in the dark about COVID” and didn’t know any better.
You didn’t know any better because you CENSORED people like us.
Screw off Atlantic. No Amnesty.

Wanted to share this from a very talented writer called Mick Flaherty so funny.
THANK YOU, CHANCELLOR. THANK YOU SO MUCH. 🇬🇧❤️
I’ve been reading today’s Budget and I’m considering cancelling my direct debits. Financial independence is finally within reach.
🥒 Cheaper gherkins, baked beans and chocolate. Potential savings of £21 a year - that’s 40p a week. I’ve already rewritten my will. My son gets the house, but the gherkin fortune is going into a trust fund. I’m not having the little bastard blow my life’s savings on cocaine and scratchcards.
🍬 Import tariffs scrapped on boiled sweets and toffees. Thank Christ. I’ve seen pensioners outside Aldi exchanging sexual favours for a bag of Werther’s Originals.
🍊 Cheaper marmalade. Excellent, ‘cos I’ve been spreading Vaseline on my toast since March. Paddington Bear’s probably knocking one out behind King’s Cross.
🧄 Cheaper garlic. Fantastic!! I’ve been buying it one clove at a time from a bloke behind Aldi. Last week he offered me three bulbs and a handjob for £20.
💷 Income Tax thresholds frozen until 2031. Absolutely beautiful. Earn a bit more, get dragged into paying more tax, then watch the Chancellor congratulate himself for helping working people. It’s the financial equivalent of being mugged, having your trousers stolen and being handed a 40p voucher for gherkins as compensation.
🍫 Cheaper chocolate-covered wafers. I’ve already ordered a reinforced safe, appointed three trustees and instructed my accountant to establish an offshore wafer portfolio in the Cayman Islands. Apparently, HMRC wants to know why I’ve declared a KitKat as a dependent.
🚌 Bus fares capped at £2. If my business ever collapses, I can now afford to travel to the Jobcentre and explain that I went bankrupt despite unprecedented savings on fucking marmalade.
💡 Gas standing charges being scrapped. Lovely news, until you find out the cost is being transferred to the price of the gas itself. That’s the financial equivalent of a burglar returning your television and charging you £45 to watch it.
Anyhoo… the government calls some of these its FIVE EVERYDAY FIXES.
I’ve calculated that if I save 40p every week, I could afford a second-hand Ford Fiesta in approximately 400 years…. Assuming nobody’s eaten the fucking gherkins.
Thank you, Chancellor. You’ve saved the country. I’ll name my first jar of marmalade after you. 🇬🇧
Ok, so I woke up this morning to discover my open letter is STILL trending here on X. 😂
Between Facebook and X, it's now been viewed more than 945,000 times!
Naturally, it's also unleashed the unhinged troll brigade, who have provided some excellent entertainment along the way.
But what has struck me most is the sheer volume of people who clearly haven't forgotten, or forgiven, Jacinda Ardern.
Not just for what she put them through personally, but for the enormous damage she did to our country.
The division. The cruelty. The gaslighting. The lives and livelihoods turned upside down.
And then, of course, there's the spectacle of watching her continue to fall upwards, landing one cushy appointment after another, while so many of those who suffered under her government are still picking up the pieces.
Apparently, a great many people have quite a lot to say about that!
Thank you all so much for reading, commenting on, and sharing my letter. 🥰
I do hope there's a bit of a buzz around the water cooler at the University of Sydney today.
Something tells me there might be. 😏

🚨 A message to all French people 🚨
In the months ahead, you're going to see more and more propaganda about Elon Musk.
Send this to your loved ones. Not tomorrow. Now.
Elon Musk is dismantling, on a global scale, the oldest political lie of the century: the idea that only the State, intermediaries, and credentialed media have the right to say what is true, what is possible, and what is moral.
This lie has a familiar name. We call it socialism when it talks about justice. We call it "consensus" when it talks about science. We call it "protection" when it talks about speech. In all cases, the mechanism is the same: a caste positions itself between people and reality, then sells that position as a public service.
Musk is breaking it.
He has proven that you can launch rockets without Gosplan. Build cars without Detroit's blessing. Connect a village, a frontline, or a hospital from orbit, without asking permission from a ministry. He bought the public square and tore the monopoly away from those who decided who had the right to speak.
That's why the mainstream media, like a beast in its death throes, will try everything.
Not because they've uncovered a secret. Because the man slips through all their levers. You can't buy him with ad revenue. You can't rein him in with a news cycle. You can't quietly unplug him. At this level of power, he's probably the cleanest man in the world: he's put his own fortune on the line, he doesn't need their permission, and he didn't build his position by capturing the State.
They'll call him a Nazi. They'll call him crazy. They'll call him a danger to democracy. They'll trot out the same clip, the same historian from the right side, the same moral indecency.
This isn't information. It's a survival reflex.
The French need to know this before the wave hits.
Elon Musk isn't fighting for a party. He's fighting so that the people can face the machine head-on, build without asking forgiveness, and stop handing over their thinking to those who live off fear and narrative.
The truth is simple.
A builder who opens the game does more for people than a newsroom that recycles slander.
Pass this on. The months ahead will be noisy. The signal, though, won't change.
