In a recent article about 2026 taxes, the Wall Street Journal indicated that Schedule C filers are not subject to the 90% cap on gambling losses. 🤔 Not sure I agree that's the correct interpretation, but it's the internet, many will cite it. wsj.com/personal-finance/tax…

I like the movie ticket analogy. OSB operators always remind everyone that this is just entertainment. Well if I spend $100 at a movie theatre, I don’t have to file this on my taxes. The US should adopt the windfall definition like Canada. Regulated gambling already generates public revenue upfront and since most players lose, it should end there. Of course professional gambling should be subject to income tax, but it should be treated like a regular business. As someone that cares a lot about complying with the law, I remain astonished that PASPA was struck down over 8 years ago and we still have a tax system that forces millions of people to commit tax evasion or pay thousands of dollars to the government that you don’t have. I have talked to lawmakers, auditors, and anyone that will listen, but they all dismiss it because gambling despite the popularity remains taboo and the status quo is just to pretend it doesn’t exist. The media refuses to cover it for the same reason and in general the public at large does not even understand our tax system (it is actually designed to be this way). The governor of IL, a massive gambler himself, still runs a state without any loss deduction. We all just pretend that millions of people being forced to ignore a law is completely normal. Then you have Daniel Wallach and Dustin Gouker (being paid by the OSB industry) celebrating this adverse tax situation. I just don’t get it.

People often ask me how courtsiding works. You just go to the game and listen to the radio. 😉
Love how this dude spoils the live coverage because he's listening on the radio, running 10 seconds ahead of the TV broadcast.

Sports betting forces you to learn 'stuff'🤔 The feedback loop is💰 Both positive and negative reinforcement🙃
It doesn't make for fancy Atlantic cover stories, but one thing that betting does for you is teach you to think in probabilities, @capjack2000 says. And that can help you in realms far beyond betting.

Oh I disagree! The Super Bowl is on Valentines Day this year. Great opportunity for crossover:

Gambling is entrenched in enough of society already; we don’t need to start normalizing giving slips as Christmas presents.

Evolution doesn't stop evolving. The sharp betting world has gone from odds screens ➡️odds screeners ➡️API fed betting. If you're not evolving, you're not surviving.
The secret sauce to building your own tools is connecting them via API to current markets. And when you can get a source of truth flowing alongside them? Look out.

Sportsbooks all over the world are missing out on holiday-themed betting slips.🎅

@HardRockBetHelp Hey, I want to buy a bunch of physical futures slips to give out for the holidays. The problem is - no offense - your tickets look like crap lol. Is there a way to get better-looking slips out of your computer?

Bet the process. Also, check the forecast. Congrats to whoever hit us for 185k parlaying Bermuda Championship Top5/10/20 RFQs Sunday morning at 2am. Thank god we had safeguards, otherwise it would have been worse. Market making can be an expensive education. On to Cincinnati.

Congratulations to @beatingthebook on cashing the best value on the board at +1100 on each. 💪
There's always a logic puzzle to solve in sports betting. 🤔 For instance, I'm watching @VSiNLive yesterday and see @beatingthebook talking about prop bets around Last Undefeated and Last Winless in NFL. We've got a simulator for that at @UnabatedSports. 🤝

Possibly, perhaps quite possibly. But DK and others have used up most of their goodwill, and I've been around long enough to know that people love to put on their boots and come kicking when someone is down. As Stu Ungar said (and this applies to the entire industry imo): “It’s hard work. Gambling. Playing poker. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Think about what it’s like sitting at a poker table with people whose only goal is to cut your throat, take your money, and leave you out back talking to yourself about what went wrong inside. That probably sounds harsh. But that’s the way it is at the poker table. If you don’t believe me, then you’re the lamb that’s going off to the slaughter.”
