Dolly Parton wrote a song just for Johny Carson because she attributed her success to the popularity after her first appearance. @DollyParton
On September 19, 1979, Dolly Parton was still a year away from topping the pop charts with “9 To 5,” the title song she wrote for the hit 1980 film in which she starred with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. The 33-year-old was a bonafide country star but was still a year away from the superstardom that the movie would bring her when it became 1980’s second-biggest film.
The beloved singer, actress and philanthropist, was born January 19, 1946, in “the hills of Tennessee.” By age 10, she was performing on local television and radio shows in nearby Knoxville. While in her early 20s, her country music career blossomed when Porter Wagoner began featuring her on his popular syndicated television show, attracting the attention of executives at RCA Records.

T-Pain sues Akon’s Konvict Entertainment for nearly $500,000 in unpaid royalties.
On Sept. 4, T-Pain, born Faheem Rashad Najm, filed the 80-page lawsuit in Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia. According to court documents obtained by XXL, Pain alleges that Konvict Entertainment owes him $489,047 from a $1.3 million royalty payment it received on March 30, 2026, from distributor Zomba Recordings.
T-Pain claims in his lawsuit that he made multiple unsuccessful attempts to collect the royalties owed to him, leading to him taking the matter to court.
This is the second time T-Pain has sued Akon's label for violating the terms of their original 2005 recording agreement. The Tallahassee crooner also sued Konvict Entertainment in 2018. The suit ended in a settlement in 2025. However, T-Pain claims the label has breached the agreement in that case as well.
XXL has reached out to T-Pain's attorney and Akon's team for comment.
