A weak tornado affected Portchester, Hampshire, just after midnight on 23 October, with a 1.6 km land track. It was associated with heavy showers that moved inland from the Channel, linked to Storm Austen. More details to follow after the analysis has concluded.

Not had time to do a convective / thunderstorm forecast, but there is potential for strong convection along occluding cold front moving NE across S England & S Wales tonight in environment of strong low-level shear to produce an isolated tornado, recently been lightning on more discrete cells on the rear of the heavy rain across Brittany and the Celtic Sea

If you ask me, a well structured non-tropical cyclone can be similarly photogenic to a well structured hurricane.
Check out the curled weather front with a tight 'hook' around the low's centre, & the swathe of relatively cold & dry air wrapping in toward that core.
