We pay the premiums. We pay the deductibles. We pay the copays. Then when we actually need care, an insurance company gets to decide whether it will pay. Healthcare should exist to keep people alive and healthy, not to maximize shareholder returns. Something has to change.

* sigh * It was named that after a Wyandot word meaning great lake or lake of shining waters. The province of Ontario was named after the lake, not the other way around. He is such an idiot it is physically painful to read anything he writes.

*2026 El Niño Ahead by a Mile* It’s remarkable for us scientists to witness El Niño’s evolution. If you had asked us if something like this was possible a year ago, it would have probably been a definitive no. But here we are… already more than 1C (and 3 months) ahead of the next strongest episode in 1997. This week we breached +2.5°C sea surface temperature anomaly in the East-Central Tropical Pacific. That alone qualifies this as an elite event. But we still have 4 months of temperature rise to go. So we are headed into outer space. For folks just getting acquainted with El Niño, it’s a warming of the Eastern Tropical Pacific waters. It’s a natural cycle, but it appears this one is boosted by excess heat now being stored in the oceans. El Niño events essentially act as the exhaust of the Ocean, a way to cool itself, at the expense of the atmosphere. So the end result is we see lots of heat injected into the climate system causing all kinds of climate chaos like record #heatwaves, record #wildfires, record #typhoons in the Pacific, and possibly record quiet #hurricanes in the Atlantic (fingers crossed). Come winter it’s gonna be as active as it gets in the US South, so unfortunately we pay the price for a quiet hurricane season. For perspective here’s where the other recent Super El Nino’s were by now: * 1982: +0.80°C * 1997: +1.50°C * 2015: +1.44°C * 2023: +1.04°C * 2026: +2.55°C #elniño #elnino

🚨BREAKING: The U.S. dollar is TUMBLING after Trump’s Treasury dumped billions in U.S. reserves to buy Japanese yen. The market chaos happened just hours after Trump stood aboard Air Force One bragging that "the dollar is doing great," framing the sell-off as a "signal of friendship" to Japan right after bizarrely bringing up Pearl Harbor. Result: His own move tanked the dollar. "Master of the Deal" strikes again. 📉🤡

To me, its not even about Mitch McConnell anymore. We have a real problem when a Senator can just disappear for six weeks with only the vaguest of explanations & the whole institution just kinda shrugs it off. Every other job in America would fire you for this.

Think about this. There are 13 billionaires in Trump's administrations. They have the collective wealth of $460 billion dollars. This exceeds the GDP of 175 countries. Yet, these broke A$$ MAGA types believe these billionaires have their best interests at heart. This is why Trump says, he loves the poorly educated.

This is absolutely crazy! Did the U.S. just pay Morocco to invade Spain so that they could manufacture an “immigrant invasion” and distract us from Trump’s war in Iran?

“Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones, with footage that gets closer and closer to where you live until you’re the one filming it.”
A good friend sent this to my husband. These are cabins and homes along Westside Road in Vernon BC. He was evacuated from his cabin last night. Another friend posted they lost their cabin last night due to the fire. SIL lives in that area and could soon be evacuated AGAIN. Climate change is real. 🥲 #vernon #westsideroad #forestfire #sad

Republicans are saving all their outrage about this until a Democrat becomes president.
THIS IS INSANE National US debt just hit a record high of $40 TRILLION. Out of 45 U.S. presidents in history, President Trump is now solely responsible for 28.6% of the national debt.
