Most people don’t notice when extra fees get tacked onto their purchases. But nobody loves finding out about credit card interchange fees, or “swipe” fees after the fact. The fact is, these fees have a purpose, and restricting them could mean losing rewards programs, higher costs, and less security on payment networks.
CEI’s @ismurray discusses why more government red tape on interchange fees will cost you more.

The condiment market is very competitive, but it could be even more so with some deregulation – – such as easing rules from Sarbanes-Oxley & Dodd-Frank — to make it easier for condiment startups to raise capital & for banks to lend to them. Yet somehow, I don’t think Sen. Warren would favor this, since she’s championed much of these rules in the first place!

We’ve spent decades counting regulations while largely ignoring the regulatory dark matter surrounding them: guidance, memos, FAQs, letters, interpretations and more.
It’s time to start counting, & that’s what the GOOD Act would do.

Maybe you saw this story about a major philanthropist throwing his weight around trying to buy influence by funding positions within the offices of state attorneys general -- the place where police powers are exercised to seek justice.

Target is so committed to selling men in ladyface that it forgot it shouldn’t sell actual minstrel show costumes
An apology from us: We pulled an offensive Halloween costume that should never have been part of our assortment. It is no longer for sale. As a company, we got this wrong, and we are deeply sorry. We know this is especially hurtful for our Black guests, team members and partners. Removing the costume is an important first step, and the company is looking closely at how this happened and what needs to change to ensure this won’t happen again.

The EPA has tried to expand its Clean Air Act authority to levels that defy common sense and the will of Congress.
It is using the CAA as a pretext to change the economy and how Americans live their lives.
The End EPA Abuse Act would stop this abuse.

WATCH: CEI President @KentatCEI joined @GroverNorquist to talk about the hidden tax of federal regulatory compliance.
"The things we can lay eyes on, we then calculate it’s about $2.1 TRILLION dollars pulled out of the economy every year. And if you think roughly speaking, those first two categories of taxing and borrowing and spending, we have about a $7 trillion government.
