Relentless worker. Went from limited skill at 10u to All State player & college athlete. Determination, work ethic, coachability, and excellent competition helped shape him. HOWEVER, individual training had the biggest impact on his growth as a player!
Notice…no run & guns or velo chasing! Mechanical adjustments will stream line efficiency & lead to bumps in velo & strike zone command.
30 years coaching & HOF career…never seen run & guns in October equate to more strikes in the spring…EVER!
#MechanicsMatter #ThrowStrikeOne
Great lesson tonight w/ @Benzartman23 of Indiana Bulls National & Warsaw HS.

A coach can only do so much to help an athlete improve. Ultimately, the success of an athlete comes down to their inner drive. Once they become intrinsically motivated, they can get the most out of their coach and reach their full potential.

Coaches: If you’re not winning, you’ve got to be willing to try something different, otherwise you’ll never know what could’ve worked. Good coaching isn’t about sticking with what you think works; it’s about having the courage to adjust, adapt & make changes when it’s not working

Instead of just telling teammates to work harder, show them how to work hard. Instead of just telling them to have a great attitude, display one. Before you can lead them with your words, you have to lead them with your actions. BE the kind of teammate you want. Lead by example!

Leadership is about doing whatever it takes to help your team succeed. Average leaders make excuses and let things happen. Great leaders take ownership and get things done.
