A stark message from J. Hansen today at the Int. Court of Justice -"Human-caused climate change is poised to be the greatest injustice in history. The reach of CC is global. The scope of climate change, within the lifetime of a young person today, will be monumental and tragic"

In the Netherlands, they've used bus stop bypasses for decades. This is partially why the Dutch cycle 1,108km a year and the English cycle 97km a year. The data on bus stop bypass safety is clear, which is why anti-bus stop bypass campaigners ignore it.
I have written today to @MayorofLondon to again raise my concerns about bus stop bypasses and their impact on access to public transport. I sincerely hope we will see change on the ground - instead of a seemingly unstoppable rollout of inappropriately designed infrastructure.

'We NEED to save the German car industry!' An age-old religious view that supports the status quo of our car dependent society.

The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility. Let’s be clear — it wastes public money to NOT do it. #CityMakingMath HT @modacitylife

I don’t normally get involved in calling out headlines but it’s just getting bonkers. If this was directed at a gender, race or religion it would be rightly called out as the hate speech it is. Mums, dads, sons and daughters being labelled as killers. It’s just got to stop.

Obviously the car industry would not be happy for city dwellers to use bicycles instead of cars. They'd be losing market share. So why do you think the car industry promoted bicycle helmets in the 70s and 80s? Could it be they wanted us thinking bikes were dangerous?🤔

If you're only building cycling infrastructure for existing cyclists how can you deliver the huge public health benefits and reduced pressure on health care that results from getting more people making more of their short journeys by bike?
One of my mantras is cycle infrastructure needs to be designed not for cyclists but for people who don’t cycle *yet*.

What causes congestion? Nope, not bike paths. Too many cars. It’s too many cars that causes congestion. Number of cars has doubled in last 30 years to 41 million. – at Byker, England

With the Tories' climate credentials in disarray, it seems like a good moment to recall this iconic frontpage of the Times from 33 years ago... "Margaret Thatcher called yesterday for a 'giant international effort' to save the Earth from the consequences of global warming"

I suspect it's just confirmation bias. Killed (not wearing a helmet) = avoidable, killed because not wearing a helmet Killed (wearing a helmet) = tragic and unavoidable Survived (not wearing a helmet) = forgotten immediately Survived (wearing a helmet) = helmet saved my life
