I am genuinely baffled that some people will accept lockdowns to save lives but not lower speed restrictions to save lives.

When two women are discussing how their children can now cycle safely to school in Heavitree, then they can nip to work without needing to run & finance a car. #Exeter #activetravel

Let me get this right, @JustStop_Oil protestors blocking motor traffic is bad and they risk jail, but anti-ULEZ protestors who block motor traffic are good and will not be arrested and jailed? – at Byker, England

Instead of telling someone who rides a bike how dangerous it is: Look twice. Stay on your side of the road, especially in corners. Don't follow too closely. Don't pull out when you do not have priority. Keep your eyes on the road and off your phones.

Similar schemes have seen reductions: - Road crashes & injuries - Air Pollution - Noise Pollution - Crime rates They also seen increases in: - Kids playing & travelling on the streets - Kids & adults being more active (leading to a healthier population) Ian speaks sense.
My take on the #Heavitree Active Streets Trial Scheme #Exeter on @BBCSpotlight

That's the difference between cyclists and those that 'only' drive, cyclists are statistically better drivers, they are more aware of their surroundings and are less likely to break traffic laws because we know our actions can have far reaching consequences on other road users.

Right London. One good thing about the weather is it lets us see in *real life* how much space the traffic really uses. This is called a ‘Sneckdown’ Your mission - if you have a vantage point - is to send me all your Sneckdown photos for my files today! #londonsnow #sneckdown

It's easy to lose track of the big numbers. Helpful to see choices laid out like this.
Oh look, we’d only need £50bn spent on wind energy to power ALL UK HOMES. But we’re just going to GIVE the energy companies 4x that, £200bn, even though they’re about to make £170bn profit. None of this makes rational sense. theguardian.com/environment/…

I reported this driver’s daily offending, and verbal abuse I previously received, in December. I found myself surrounded by a mob; people urging her to run me over. @NorthantsPolice @NorthantsChief you are rendering our streets lawless by your inaction on neighbourhood policing.
Grandmother of one of the kids at the infants school threatened to ram me with her car today, because I asked her to move off a yellow line she parks on, every single day. Several passers-by got involved. They abused me as well. @NorthantsPolice- you knew about her at Christmas.

When safe cycle infrastructure is put in place, the whole feel of an area can change. People reclaim the streets for waking, scooting, biking, talking, there’s space for trees, cleaner air, and less noise pollution. It’s a win-win-win-win! #SafeCycle #BikeIsBest #LowCarbonTravel
Public space is for children, not cars. This is why we reclaim it. #StradeAperte #PiazzeAperte [Pics by @diegoterna]

Replying to @roadcc
As long as we keep pretending that the problem is people riding bikes not being visible, rather than people driving cars not bothering to look properly, we will never be able to make our roads any less dangerous.

Cycle commuting along the canal all week in winter conditions proves to me that we really need a proper A56 cycle lane for year round commuting. Thread👇 1) it was so icy I skidded 3 times on my way to work yesterday and nearly went in the canal. This is not infrastructure 1/3

Kids: let me tell you a secret. I switch d from iPhone to Android six months ago. The phone was £500 cheaper (FIVE HUNDRED KNICKER!) and it's fine. A few minor inconviences. Not worth half a grand

If you ever find yourself thinking “I wish cyclists would just ride in the bike lane” then it’s very much in your best interest to join cyclists in lobbying for cycle lanes that actually work, instead of these.
