⚡️ My Munich speech: Our Disinfolklore Universe ~ Battling Archetypes It’s appropriate to be speaking about our Disinfolklore Universe at a Pirate Party Munich Security conference event. Those who founded the Pirate Party get what I am about to speak to you about. There’s a flow between on the one hand culture, art, films, literature about pirates and geopolitical security. Those whom we entrust with securing our conditions of civilised life don’t seem to understand this. This is partly why they’re such easy marks for Russian and MAGA Disinfolklore. They get wrapped up so easily in Russian or MAGA trolls, like flies in a spider's web, it’s very hard for them even to understand they’re trapped inside Old Thinking. Today I’m going to offer a perspective on what I call our Disinfolklore Universe. And I’m also going to offer a means to escape the troll memes wrap us up inside when we fall for MAGA or Russian Disinfolklore. None of this is easy. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t have all the answers. Whenever you hear anyone talk about Disinformation or Disinfolklore as if it happens to other people. As if only stupid people fall for trolls. Whenever you hear chatter like that, be certain those people are easy marks for trolls. For MAGA and Russian Disinfolklore. Today we live in a true Disinfolklore Universe. The fabric of every dimension of our lives - work, personal relationships, life choices, fates - is infused with aspects of Druidey Don and Duncey Putin’s memetic onslaught. Our Moods/Motivations/Intentions/Attitudes are being formed by what I call ‘Disinfolklore.’ Directly – through whichever media memes we consume. ⚡️Our Disinfolklore Universe Today, the fabric of every aspect of our lives – our work, minds, community, finances, close relationships, art, our children’s futures, our dreams, environment,…- are being infested and upended by story-borne artefacts of an entirely planned attempt to rebuild human culture. The Make America Great Again (MAGA) Disinfolklore propagation apparatus’s designers’ and operators’ ambition is to render most of humanity into slavery, just as comprehensively as Russia managed the same feat in Russia-occupied Ukraine where I lived and worked 2015-2018. Figure 1: Goal of operators of the Disinfolklore Universe’s propagation apparatus is to render us as supine figures in an El Salvador concentration camp and Hand Maid’s Tale – as if the post World War Two legal order had never existed.   MAGA and its fellow travelers in Russia and the Chinese Communist Party armed with our ignorance, cutting edge mind-hacking tools like X, Telegram, TikTok and ruthless use of ultraviolence will succeed, as the Russians did in Russia-occupied Ukraine, in transforming the identities of its victims from the inside out using expertly pitched Disinfolklore unless we begin to see and gauge the totality and ambition of a system enveloping us one meme at a time.   This Disinfolklore Universe I write of in Disinfolklore: How to Detect and Defeat the Disinfolklore Universe Before it Destroys Civilization is, unknown to most of us, already running through our biological and computational neural networks, like translucent triffids rewilding the garden of Eden. What I call (inspired by Marvel Cinematic Universe meme) Our Disinfolklore Universe is precisely akin to what I experienced as one of the few Westerners ever to live in Russia-occupied Ukraine where a totalitarian cloud began to descend on whole communities of modern Europeans from 2014 onwards. What we are experiencing emanating from the Russian, MAGA and Chinese Communist Party Disinfolklore propagation apparatuses like Telegram, Fox, the White House, TikTok and we whose minds are captured by such means has some resemblance to television, art or previous eras’ Disinfolklore Propagation Apparatuses. However, humanity has never been confronted by a Disinfolklore Universe of this scale, ambition, and power. My book – Disinfolklore: How to Detect and Defeat the Disinfolklore Universe Before it Destroys Civilization – teaches us how to detect the Disinfolklore Universe’s emanations in any kind of meme or informational unit and to defeat it, before it destroys human civilization. In important ways, as I shall set out briefly in my book survey below, Disinfolklore complements Shoshana Zuboff’s The Age of Surveillance Capitalism: The Fight for a Human Future at the New Frontier of Power.   When even brilliantly astute analysts like Timothy Snyder, Ruth Ben-Ghiat, Mary Trump, Michael A. Cohen and Meidas Touch Network struggle for a new vocabulary and adequate metaphors to communicate the nature of our current moment, we must know we need new terms to describe our reality. People think with words. If we want to change the way people think about things, we *must* be giving those things new names. Disinfolklore as a fusion of “folklore” and “Disinformation” arrived into my mind in February 2023, seven years after I had arrived in Russia-occupied Ukraine and began to search for an understanding of what the Russians were doing with their flood of bizarre stories. I only see the systemic nature of the Disinfolklore Universe enveloping us, one meme at a time, because I was one of the few Westerners ever to live in Russia-occupied Ukraine. From 2015 to 2018, I watched from the inside as what today I call a “Disinfolklore Universe” descended over a complete society. ⚡️Why Authoritarians ALWAYS Victim-blame. ‘They provoked me’ Logic situates the aggressor as victim. Blaming the victim gives permission to Ruschia’s 500,000 dead soldiers (RIP) to murder Ukrainians like they would so many ants. Positing the woman, NATO, Ukraine,… as the ‘provocateur’ of their own annihilation is a justification for the genocidor to carry through on their diabolical extermination strategy. ‘Accusation in a Mirror’ (citing mythical crimes of your intended victim as a motivation/excuse/justification for executing those same crimes actually against the victim) is common to ALL genocides. Wife/beater logic.
