The more I read ASOIAF books, the more convinced I am that everyone should ride hard for Stannis Baratheon. — He doesn’t believe he’s entitled to the Iron Throne because he’s the most charismatic or beloved man in Westeros. He believes it’s his by law. — He abandons the comfort of Dragonstone to fight a war that most people think he’s going to lose. — He goes to the Wall when the realm’s greatest threat is right in front of him, even when he has very little to gain politically from it. — And with Winterfell, he’s fighting to take back the North when plenty of other lords would rather sit comfortably and wait for someone else to do the work. The thing about Stannis is that he genuinely believes he’s doing what is right. and it doesn’t automatically make him a good man, and it certainly doesn’t excuse everything he might do but I understand why the more you learn about his motivations, the harder he becomes to dismiss. And unlike the show, the books haven’t had him burn Shireen. I need to know how George R.R. Martin is going to end this man’s story if he ever does
