Stop motion entropy at Chennai's only surviving access boardwalk for disabled beachgoers. Yes, Marina's will rise again, but the decay of existing assets is disquieting. The broken window theory may have been discredited, but the Besant Nagar Beach Broken Railing theory isn't!
Rubbish has been cleared, but maintenance of Besant Nagar beach access path continues to be abysmal @chennaicorp @sameerangs @RDCSouth_GCC . Broken railings are encouraging miscreants to break more, in the course of a day. Life cycle access please! #BrokenWindowTheory #Sustain

It is impossible to talk abt student suicides without being labelled partisan by one or the other side. We did with farmer suicides too. Result: voices of suicide prevention experts are drowned in the cacophony. Suicides are a public health issue. Trying again with a thread 1/n

30 years around and 1 question remains. “Partners in Nation Building,” what does Nation Building ask of us when a Member cannot independently enter the door? Physical barriers are visible. Silence is harder. Asking ICAI to be awake. #AuditingPossibilities #ICAI #Accessibility

What's the use of keeping train indicators on the PFs parallel to the tracks? Passengers have to stand on the tracks to check the train timings? Shouldn't it be facing the passengers who are waiting on the PFs? Who comes up with these ideas?

JFC you're stupid. Get heart failure and you might understand that just because you can manage to get around most places without a wheelchair (& thus don't have one) doesn't mean you won't need one at a large airport.

My disabled brother has cerebral palsy, severe ataxia & partial blindness. I contacted @IndiGo6E twice before his flight to explain his disability and confirm wheelchair assistance. Yet during his journey from Doha to Mumbai: • He was denied access to a terminal toilet during a rushed connection. • He was denied use of the aircraft toilet immediately upon boarding, despite it being right at the entrance, and told to sit first and use it after departure. • An aisle wheelchair was available at the aircraft door, but crew refused to use it because it would take too much time/delay boarding. My mother was instead expected to physically assist him down the aisle. IndiGo then investigated and said no toilet request was communicated and that my brother said he could walk, therefore no assistance was withheld. We categorically dispute this. Being able to physically walk does not mean someone with severe ataxia, cerebral palsy and partial blindness can safely navigate an aircraft aisle without mobility assistance. I’ve raised this with IndiGo and AirSewa. I’m now asking @IndiGo6E and @MoCA_GoI for an evidence-based answer: What does the CCTV show? Were the two pre-flight calls reviewed? Why was the available aisle wheelchair not used? This isn’t about special treatment. It’s about dignity, safety and appropriate assistance for a disabled passenger. @ncpedp_india @drag_org @socialpwds #IndiGo #DisabilityRights #Accessibility #airtravel

Constructing a Bus Shelter shouldn't be just for Sun shade or Rain but it should Enable easy Access from Bus Stop directly inside the Bus like a Metro (Level Boarding. Engineers need to think in a futuristic way directly connecting the existing Footpaths & Bus Stops @AccessibAll

Why do we wait until pedestians are run down @ChennaiTraffic ? Why can't there be proactive policing and catching the offenders before they cause harm?
BROTHER ARRESTED AFTER MINOR SIBLING RIDING A BIKE KNOCKS DOWN ELDERLY PEDESTRIAN IN WASHERMENPET Washermanpet Traffic Investigation Wing police arrested a 20-year-old man for allowing his 16-year-old brother to ride his motorcycle without a driving licence after the minor knocked down a 72-year-old pedestrian in Washermenpet. The motorcycle was seized, and the accused was remanded in judicial custody. The accident occurred in the Stanley Nagar–C.B. Road area of Washermanpet. Police said the minor was riding the motorcycle with two friends as pillion riders. He was not wearing a helmet and was riding in a manner that endangered other road users when he hit Balan (72), who was crossing the road. The elderly man sustained injuries and was provided medical treatment. Following the accident, a team from the Washermanpet Traffic Investigation Wing examined the scene, collected evidence and questioned witnesses. The investigation revealed that the motorcycle belonged to the rider’s elder brother, Vigneshwaran (20), of Old Jail Road, Old Washermanpet. Police said Vigneshwaran knowingly allowed his younger brother to use the motorcycle despite being aware that he was a minor and did not possess a valid driving licence. He was arrested on Thursday, produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. The motorcycle involved in the accident was also seized. The Chennai City Traffic Police reiterated that vehicle owners, parents and guardians would face legal action if they permitted minors or unlicensed persons to drive motor vehicles. Police urged motorists to follow traffic regulations, wear protective gear and drive responsibly to ensure the safety of all road users. They also appealed to the public not to encourage minors to operate vehicles, warning that such violations could attract criminal liability under the law. #CrimeSelvaraj #Chennai #ChennaiUpdates #Minor #Juvenile #MInorDriving #RoadAccident

How effortlessly they've managed to provide a beautiful, well‑designed ramp for the President, though she could have easily managed without it. But why the same Railways fail to provide even a basic ramp for wheelchair users like us, so we too can board and travel with dignity?

Monthly reminder that airports in India don't allow 2W and autorikshaws to drop passengers infront of the terminal even for departures. We all pay the same airport fees with the ticket, yet get discriminated based on number of wheels we arrive in. We can't be a poor third world country and discriminatory.
