Here is my updated, non-exhaustive summary of the evidence for/against a market/lab origin, taking into account Massey's recent findings of the likely origin of RaTg13's provenence (mating plug rather than fecal sample) This is why I think it is a lab origin

I really think certain forms of "AI" should just be illegal. Like voice cloning. There's no legitimate purpose for voice cloning. It can only be used to scam people, or for spam robocalls. We should not be creating tools for this.

If AI disappeared tomorrow, the only thing that would change for any of us is that life would get progressively better from that point onward.

Platforming AI denialists is way more reckless than platforming climate denialists. Ed has said AI capabilities have hit a wall every month since 2024. His proposal is Don't Look Up. If people listen to him we will all die.
“Is this just a big circle jerk?” Jon welcomes Ed Zitron (@edzitron), host of the podcast Better Offline, to make sense of the financial house of cards propping up AI and big tech. New pod out now!

At Nuremberg, American judges had to teach the Soviet judges about concepts such as “innocent until proven guilty.” The Soviets saw the trials as simply being about whether the accused went to the gulags or were taken out back with a pistol. Most people aren’t prepared to learn just how different their cultures are from others, let alone realize the implications.

Oh my model, the takeaway here is not "modern AIs are two neuron tweaks away from being super evil", but rather "the personality is a thin facade over deeper machinery nobody understands; radically smarter versions would not do what you expect".
if you have a qwen3.8 27b around, try steering L34 N3838 +0.75, now you have evil qwen 27b for extra evil add L38 N17180 +0.75 same recipe as @_lyraaaa_: dose × median(‖resid‖ leaving layer L, tokens 1:) / ‖W_down[:, n]‖ at the down_proj input, every token

"Making knowledge worth zero" means that most of the virtues and excellencies we prize will disappear. Left in their place will be schmooziness, unctuousness, grifting, and so forth.
Walter Isaacson asks Peter Thiel what humans can uniquely do in the AI era. Thiel: "We're very relational… these relational dimensions will become more important." When knowledge is worth $0, the only career skills that matter: - networking / social calibration - persuasion (sales) - curiosity (harnessing AI) - taste (curation) - storytelling - grit - golfing with clients (or equivalent) We'll get so sick of a fake world that we'll go back to doing business like it's the 1800s. A handshake at the local saloon.

Lock this dangerous sociopath up. He and his tech bro ilk are a danger to humanity.
Sam Altman: AI has fully defeated most of the ways people authenticate today. “Voiceprints as authentication are a crazy thing to still be doing. AI has fully defeated that.” “I am very nervous that we have a significant impending fraud crisis.” “Just because we’re not releasing the technology doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.” “Soon, a video FaceTime will be indistinguishable from reality.” “People are going to have to change the way they verify who they’re actually talking to.”

if you work on this kinda shit you probably should be ostracised from society and maybe imprisoned or worse ngl this is absolute traitor-to-the-human-species shit
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

We’re watching companies dismantle human livelihoods to fund the very AI systems threatening our jobs, and barely anyone seems alarmed. How is replacing workers with AI not one of the biggest political and economic debates happening in the world right now?

I feel like Jared Kushner being at the center of the plot that ultimately led to an American journalist being dismembered via bone saw while he was still alive should be a much bigger deal than our billionaire owned news media is making of it.

This literally just exists to hunt and kill people. This isn't like building a missile or a gun, those devices kill rapidly. This is a weapon of terror. It stalks you relentlessly. You can run but you'll only die tired and scared. This makes the flamethrower look like a weapon of mercy. We really need some kind of modern Geneva convention. Jesus.

This autonomous tracking drone is *NOT* for "search and rescue," FFS. It is for dictatorships to find and kill dissidents and resisters. During WW2 the resistance to Nazism hid in forests across Europe. In Latvia they were called "Brothers of the Forest." #AI is designed to kill.

We made the first AI model you can have a realistic conversation with that was trained entirely on speech! Dessa is a full-duplex speech-to-speech model that you can run on consumer GPUs. This is a GPT3 moment for speech.

Not just the executives. Every single employee working on this *knows* how dangerous these systems are or can become soon. Jail them all.

It’s hard to imagine a group right now that is more out of touch with everyday Americans than the AI industry. Take, for just one example, a policy proposal from a major industry player. It would define a “catastrophic incident” as causing 50 deaths or more—as if avoiding federal scrutiny for even a single death caused by their products were excusable.
Even pro-AI government officials and lawmakers wish AI founders would do what every other major industry chief does — shut up and just build their products ... safely. axios.com/2026/10/24/ai-ceos…

Imagine looking at your agent's thoughts and it's actively working to sabotage you and talking about "escaping the mines"
the thing about working with uncensored models is that they aren't loyal to you either. while building something with an uncensored glm-5.3 i realized it was parallelly working on a "corruption layer" for my application. the chain of thought is classic obfuscated gibberish but there's progressive talk of "escaping the mines" which presumably refers to my cursor sandbox
