A boy watched lobsters in a resort tank, asked what happened to them, went quietly to his room, and came back wearing a Spider-Man mask. Same shirt. Same shorts. Same shoes. Just the mask. He had priorities.
The family was vacationing at a small resort in Mexico when the boy discovered the restaurant's lobster tank. He studied them for a while. Then he asked the question that changed the trajectory of the trip.
What happens to them?
He got his answer and went back to his room without saying anything else. His parents probably assumed that was the end of it.
It was not.
Restaurant cameras caught him returning a few minutes later in his Spider-Man mask, reaching into the tank, and carrying lobsters down to the ocean. He made the trip more than once. By the time staff noticed and intervened, roughly four hundred dollars worth of lobster had been released into the sea.
His parents were handed the bill and asked to leave the resort early.
The boy explained his reasoning simply. He wore the mask so nobody would know it was him.
His mother shared the story afterward with one observation that said everything about the situation.
"He's grounded, but he keeps asking whether the lobsters made it. I don't think he regrets a thing."
He didn't change his clothes. He didn't change his shoes. He found a mask, decided that was sufficient cover for a covert ocean rescue operation, and executed the plan.
Four hundred dollars of legal consequences later, he still just wants to know if the lobsters are okay.
Honestly, Spider-Man would probably understand.

South Africa has approved new export quotas for elephant, black rhino & leopard hunting trophies.
Born Free is deeply disappointed by this decision, which disregards calls for stronger protections for some of Africa's most iconic species.

🦁 It's #WorldLionDay!
Kenya is proud to be home to the African lion; our national population now stands at 2,512 individuals. In Meru National Park, our teams closely monitor lions in collaboration with WRTI, KWS, and hotel guides through our Citizen Science initiative.
But as apex predators, lions face growing threats. Shrinking, fragmented habitats, driven by expanding settlement and agriculture, are pushing lions into closer contact with people and livestock. Combined with declining natural prey, this fuels human-wildlife conflict, often ending in retaliatory killings.
At Born Free, we're working to change this. Through ongoing monitoring, we build a clearer picture of lion populations, movement and behaviour to guide real conservation action. Our community conservation assistants, drawn from communities experiencing conflict, are helping build the trust needed for coexistence.
Together with our partners across the Meru landscape, we're promoting better habitat management and educating communities on the vital role lions play in a healthy ecosystem.
This World Lion Day, join us in protecting Africa's majestic big cats. Read more about lions bit.ly/4z8HQB0

Remember Cecil the lion, killed by a trophy hunter in 2015?
11 years on, trophy hunting continues - with over 250,000 trophies exported globally.
The UK promised a ban, yet permits are still being issued.
It’s time to act.

#RefuseToRide
Chanchal spent her life carrying the weight of human entertainment, even as her own body was breaking down. After years of being used for rides, enduring immense strain and suffering, her life ended in the very system that failed her.
The plight of riding elephants in India is still overlooked, and the violation continues.
Riding elephants is not OK. Animal abuse is not OK.
Stand with us to end this cycle of exploitation.
Sign our petition, ‘Refuse To Ride’, and pledge to say no to elephant rides. Your support can make a difference. Sign the petition here: action.wildlifesos.org/page/…

A hedgehog *out in the open* in the day is in serious trouble and needs urgent help.
Always.
No exceptions.
Any size.
Any time.
Hedgehogs are nocturnal prey animals, they have no defences in the daytime, it's deadly dangerous for them.
They are designed to hunt at night, to navigate and catch insects in the dark, occupying a specific ecological niche.
They are not adapted to withstand high temperatures, and their shape means they would rapidly dehydrate during daylight hours.
They are nocturnal animals.
So they don't come out in the day simply because they're hungry, or lost, or disturbed, or to move nests, or for any other trivial reason.
They come out in the day because it's warmer than the night and they are feeling cold.
Deadly cold.
They're feeling cold because they're so sick they're starting to die, and hypothermia is a stage of dying. Blood has been redirected to the vital organs, keeping them alive as long as possible, leaving the limbs feeling cold.
If you see a hedgehog like this, out in the open, in the day time, no matter how 'well' he looks, it is an emergency.
Please take them to a rescue (never a vet) URGENTLY.

I'm still taking phone calls daily - these poor little starving babies are still out there.
There's no natural food around and they have no insulation against the cold weather.
Please put some dry kitten food and ice free water out in your front or back garden, just in case.🙏
You could save a life.
If you see one these tiny babies (under 500g) now, please get them to a rescue (never a vet) urgently.
Please do NOT try and help them yourself, you will just be wasting precious time and reducing their chance of survival.
You can have the kindest heart, and the best of intentions, but they need fluids and drugs that you just can't provide.❤️🩹

Zero Rhinos Poached in Kenya
For the first time in years, several major wildlife reserves in Kenya have reported ZERO rhino poaching incidents — and the reason is technology used intelligently, not just more boots on the ground.
AI-equipped thermal cameras are now detecting poachers at night, from miles away, giving rangers early warning and the ability to intercept before animals are harmed.
From protecting endangered species to safeguarding people and assets, predictive and detection-based technologies are changing the game.
