10/10 from The Strokes last night. Never ever heard a band sound so tight in my life. Absolutely brilliant, best I’ve ever heard a band sound. Soundtrack to many a night and they didn’t disappoint. What a gig.

Sadly many in Ireland have always been sheep. When the Church ran a theocracy with FFG, they all went to mass. Once that ended it seems many of them had no actual faith of their own and stopped attending except for when they had big life occassions. Now that US Corporate Woke neoliberalism has replaced Catholicism as the State religion in Ireland, they are all embracing that. More authentic Irish often leave. The Irish nation is far bigger than the crony ridden, deceitful and incompetent Irish State.
Ireland gets more woke by the day.

Fantastic analysis.

Jason appears to discard the fact that the US dollar´s "exorbitant privilege" and the recyling of US trade deficits back into US Capital Markets, where all conservative financial assets are squeezed out first before VC.......gets funded, objectively and demonstrably makes it easier and more likely that such risks can and will be assumed in the US. To Jason´s point there absolutely are also wider cultural and societal approaches to risk, work and ambition which are all significant but the US dollar global reserve status is a highly significant and generally overlooked factor behind US tech investment, resultant innovation and global domination.
Most investment dollars go to zero Most founder equity goes to zero America produces the most important companies because of this awesome risk-taking — this is why we win! This is obvious and well known by all parties involved, and it’s called the power law And 99% of the time, VC-backed founders never put any personal capital at risk — just their time and typically a more modest salary (but in a hot market founders sometimes go for higher pay, and boards will approve) No story here, just nonsense

This person is 62 years old. She has spent more money on botox, filler, and hair coloring than the median American income. A perfectly fine thing to do if you can afford it but don’t pretend to be in touch with the working class with a 6 figure face.
MacCallum: The Cheesecake Factory comment goes exactly to why Democrats lost the middle class, why they lost blue-collar voters. Because it's kind of a guns and religion clinging kind of comment and it turns a lot of people in this country off

The amount of murders committed by foreign born males from a handful of countries now living in Ireland is a far more statistically accurate group to make such an appeal to but instead much easier to virtue signal and smear half of the world´s population. The deceit and incoherence of the cultural left is staggering.
Note to all male partners, husbands and just men in general. Stop killing women!

Logical but Real Madrid is a proper football club where there is an institution of identifying, developing and acquiring world class footballers. This goes way beyond any 1 manager. Madrid have moved managers on quickly when they did not work but never lost that internal institutional excellence. Manchester United is a football club run by football clueless accountants and sycophants to the billionaire class. No internal institutional excellence now. Appointing Ancelotti does not fix this and they would likely refuse his players shopping list.

I'm in my 40s. I'm a lawyer. My wife is a lawyer. We both work full time. We cannot afford the house my parents purchased on a single electrician's income in their 30s. We cannot afford the house my immigrant grandparents purchased on a single MTA bus driver's salary in their 30s. They had SIX CHILDREN. For 30 years, politicians in Washington & their oligarch allies convinced regular people that this was just about avocado toast and fancy coffee. In reality, this is end-stage capitalism. Everyone is stuck in place. It's impossible to buy a home. It's too costly to move. We work too much to have passion projects. We don't have enough savings to start our own businesses. We can't afford to go without healthcare to do it. Thanks for writing this article @troy_closson. Would be very happy to discuss further. nytimes.com/2026/10/25/nyreg…

"But it's just wild when you think about it... in 1997 the average home cost 3.5 times the average salary. Today it’s 7.6!"
I got chatting to a friend of a friend at the pub last weekend. He’d just turned 30. Good job, no debt (excluding student loan), saves every month and the kind of person you’d expect to have it figured out. He told me what he thought his 30s would look like when he was 22. The house, maybe a kid and a bit of money behind him. Then he told me what it actually looks like... Renting a room in Clapham and saving for a deposit that gets further away every year he saves for it. He hasn’t done anything wrong, that’s what he was told to do! I wrote about this a couple months ago, so could give him the spiel🤣 But it's just wild when you think about it... in 1997 the average home cost 3.5 times the average salary. Today it’s 7.6! My one bit of advice to him was to learn the rules of the game you’re actually playing. Money loses value over time. Once that clicks, everything else gets a lot more obvious.

Call me old fashioned but if you aspire to lead any credible sovereign nation state, you do not want let alone need 2 or 3 weeks off when your wife has a baby. Maybe if an Irish Taoiseach had a formal residence and family was close to work it would be much better too.
Has he been abducted, yes I know he went on paternity leave but come on, get real, he's the deputy Taoiseach, (PM) as well as Minister for Finance. We've just left one of the most contentious weeks in Irish politics ever, and not a peep from him Something else is going on here

You’ll never guess what Israel First’s reaction to this ad has been. The one trick pony trotted out it’s only pony - “antisemite!!” So, now it’s antisemitic if you won’t hand over your wallet to Israel. You have to pay for their genocide, otherwise you’re all antisemites!
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.

Only the most ignorant or most deceitful would try this angle of propaganda now.
I’m sick to my stomach. I honestly never thought that I would witness such an antisemitic piece of American political propaganda in my lifetime. This is Nazi-Islamic antisemitism delivered against the Jewish collective in 2026 in the United States. By endorsing Abdel El-Sayed, the Democratic Party has crossed a threshold that signals a sickening decay of dangerous proportions to the American Jewish community. If this ad isn’t pulled with an explicit apology to the Jewish community, I will say Kaddish over my country of birth. I’m disgusted by what was once a great country. Voting Democratic is now like voting for the Nazi party. Anyone who rationalizes this ad as anything other than an Islamic-Nazi propaganda piece that scapegoats the collective Jew for cheap political currency has succumbed to antizionist brainwashing.

Genius. An extended interview on his time as manager, what he learned....mixed between the boat and some nice pubs along the way where other Manchester United legends join in for a chat. Get Irish tourism board to fund most of it.

Sex work is work that many women, and men, willingly choose. Politicians should work to enact laws to protect those who are being exploited however they should not over reach into impacting bodily autonomy by claiming all sex work is not true consent. Just objectively untrue.

Great retort.
EL-SAYED: I get that the President takes personal offense to my first name. He doesn't mind as much when it's the Saudis who are funding his son-in-law's private equity. Doesn't seem to mind as much when it's the Qataris who are giving them a $400 million private jet. He just seems to have trouble pronouncing it when it's my name.  I don't care how he pronounces my name. I don't even care that he remembers my whole name. Because he can just go on and call me senator after November.

British equivalent of Glenroe theme song sentiment!
Nothing captured the childhood trauma of Sunday nights in the 90s like Heartbeat, Songs of Praise and Last of the Summer Wine. Every show brought you closer to the absolute horror of Monday morning. The Antiques Roadshow theme tune was basically a death sentence with violins.

"When you allow owners in who only want to use you as collateral ( Hi Mr Big Banker, we own Man United so we're good for the fucking huge loan we want for something else) in a transaction, you're fucked." @ImpressionistAL @AndyMitten
Manchester United Football Club. A football club only works when the sum of its parts is greater than any one human. At Manchester United that worked ruthlessly well for 20 years. You can then trace when the rot started. 1. Calling Moyes "Everton". Big time players started to call the shots. That Moyes wasn't up to it is irelevant, the sum of the parts mantra was broken. 2. Ronaldo return. Always about 1 player in pressers, never about the team. 3. The piano playing decadence of Alexis reveal. City announce Haaland in a bland statement. United went full Liberace to "prove" how big they were. Clubs on top don't need to prove anything. They just do. 4. Numerous managers, sporting directors, organisational changes. Villa gave Emery the key to Villa Park and Bodymoor Health and said "you're the expert, we'll bring in your guys". 90% worked, 10% didn't. The 10% exited without fuss. United? Every name is a part of the circus. 5. Leaks. If you're supposed to be the worlds biggest club, you don't leak to Partridge type YouTubers or local journos. Chose players and their character carefully. 6. Fergie. Liverpool ruthlessly moved Shankly well away from Anfield, to the dismay of many. Romantics rightly said " WTF, it's him who started this!". Liverpool board and Boot Room said, "Move him out, he's only ever going to be a distraction". Proved true. The cameras panning to Fergie every game did United no favours. Why? Nobody could compete with that man. 7. Owners. When you allow owners in who only want to use you as collateral ( Hi Mr Big Banker, we own Man United so we're good for the fucking huge loan we want for something else) in a transaction, you're fucked. A lesson that even the biggest clubs are prone to chasing the dollar from anyone and everyone. Time to protect all of our clubs from rogue ownership. 8. Four four fucking two. Attack attack attack. Sometimes, in order to find yourself you need to go back to your roots. United play attacking, swaggering football. Buy two great wide men. Two mobile and aggressive midfielders. One ball playing, one aggressive central defender. Two fullbacks who only defend and a keeper who commands his box. Basics. United do that and even now all the people, characters, noise can be boiled down to basics that at first grind out badic results as the mess above gets dealt with. Basics. Painfully simple ones. Manchester United Football Club are one of the world's biggest acting like a lost army after a great General left the batallion. Find your General , on the pitch, in the dugout, at the head of the company, then green shoots will follow. Sometimes, simplicity is everything and complexity is ruinous. The club believed its own hype instead of following its own DNA.
