If you want to get out a drive a touch @EdzosBurgerShop in Evanston is amazing and the fries are to die for. Also not sure if Schoops is open, you’ll have to call but if it is, you can do a fun hop to Hammond and the lacy edge is worth it.

I'm a big fan of the fresh cut, blanched then fried, crisp, skin on fries like Ricobene's and Edzo's serve.
Like curly fries, I think they're better if they've been cooked a few seconds long to add some stiffness/crispiness.

Well, in the meantime Edzo has my $25, and I may or may not remember to go get everybody burgers, and if I do I won't be taking somebody else's paid-for seat (unlike Alinea). May not be salvation, but it doesn't have a downside for him (that's any worse than things already are).

Trib called Mr. D’s the best fries in Chicago under $5. I’ve had all of the top 5 on that list in the last month. Though the @edzosburgershop cheez fry is pictured, the base fry is $2.75 and while I can’t… instagram.com/p/B8nBR5fB5VP/…
